I honestly see nothing wrong with this video; I found it to be very educational.

Regardless of the negative comments, this is pretty cool. A ripple affect throughout time that might be responsible for a lot of modern day gold extraction. A process 2 billion years in the making. Some people from Parys don't even know about this crater existing. We need to hype this up. This is so cool

The meteor crater in Arizona is very interesting to tour. Walk the rim trail.

The lack of comments here suggests the lack of competency of my species, we should all be learning, discussing and knowing as much as we can about these in order to try and prevent our own extinction.

The lack of comments suggest that people don't want to write. The video doesnt have many views of course there won't be a lot of comments, so stop being such a dick saying "lack of competency of my species" that sounds really awful.

I know, this video is very dry. However why is there so little 'publicity' about this impact? (Tv programming or KZbin videos) It's the biggest ever. One of the oldest. Etc etc. Does a tree have to fall over in the USA for it to make a sound? I've heard it said that it (the meteor) either bought the all the gold mined in South Africa, or at least redistributed the gold that was there before the strike. (All SA gold is mined in this crater area)
@iwazhere70774 жыл бұрын
Not quite correct, mines in the dome area are relatively small (near surface caves) and yields were insignificant in comparison with reserves found in johannesburg (part of witwatersrand) and the goldfields region where ore is/was produced from deep underground mining operations.
@lawrenceatkinson58844 жыл бұрын
@@iwazhere7077 I'm involved in mining in the area. The dome is the 'splashback' from the impact, the actual impact crater is measured in 100's kms. I've been 1km underground in gold mines and discussed the distribution of the gold, as a result of the impact, with a range of mining engineers. The impact resulted in a large inland sea. Remember this all happened some billion plus years ago

@@lawrenceatkinson5884 I must have mistaken you for a yank somehow, sorry about that Lawrence 👋🏻😎 What do you make of the (fairly recent) discovery of the concentrated helium deposit in the goldfields?

@@iwazhere7077 thanks for the withdrawal 🤭. I can't speak to your question, I've my 'head in a coal mine' at present.

All that gold is in London mostly, and the rest of the world, except in South Africa, where it is supposed to be.
