Vretsia is a village on the western fringe of Paphos Forest. It used to be inhabited by Turkish Cypriots, but since the invasion of 1974 it has been almost completely abandoned. There used to be a tavern that opened for hunting seasons, but that burnt down a few years ago.
In this film, we start near Roudia Bridge, in paphos Forest, and take the direct route to Vretsia up the fire break. This should not be attempted if you don't have a decent 4x4, and especially not if it has been raining. The route is actually in a pretty good state of repair at the moment. Usually there are big cracks in the road formed by rain.
After we drive through Vretsia, we take the road towards Pentalia, passing through Koilineia and Galataria on the way. The views on this route are stunning.
There is a lot to explore around here. For instance, from Galataria you can take the road down to Sinti Monastery and Agios Nikolaos, which is a great place to go if you want to see some ancient murals. Bring a torch though.
If you are using this to watch while on your Exercise Bike, it is uphill pretty much all the way, mostly fairly easy-going, apart from the firebreak.
