I had the fortune to listen to the music of Dr. Chitti Babu since my early childhood, thanks to my grandfather's collection of Vinyls & CD's. Even at that young age of 8, I was awestruck. Truly, to be able to impress both the young and older crowds with the playing of an instrument is no mean feat. I think even to this day, very few people truly comprehend the extent of the genius that this maestro possessed. He is someone who goes deep within the recess of his mind and heart, and draws out the most visceral human emotions & feelings, something which we struggle to articulate and the likes of which has been seldom seen since his untimely departure in '96. Then again, immortality is not of the person, but of the deeds and therefore the person. Dr. Chitti Babu shall remain immortal.

Dr. Chitti Babu the great Veena Maestro. Legends are rare who in their lifetime have been treated as Gods by their fans. If Sachin is considered as God of Cricket now, In those days people used to say Dr.Chitti Babu is the Goddess Saraswati in his form. Such was his music that people used to have tears of joy and ecstasy when they were in his Kacheris(Concerts). He treated me like his own son althoug I was his brother in law (Wifes brother) and used to call me lovingly "Subbayyar" instead of Subbu. I am blessed, privileged and honoured as he always preferred me to be his side when in he was Hyderabad. Cant forget the beautiful musical concerts I could attend with him . I had the chance of meeting other stalwarts like Dr. Bala Murali Krishna, Amjad Ali Khan, Zakir Hussain and the list goes on...... and on. He used to not only go into a trance himself while playing but could take the entire audience of more than 1000 experience that ecstatic bliss . Music is the voice of the soul and he made us experience our soul. A humble man who lived for music never aspired for awards, nor money , he accomplished his mission and made Veena an instrument of world fame. Bless all of us dear Bava !!!
