Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty is an eminent musician and scholar of Indian music traditions, which I love and admire, but, I am sorry to say, he has no clue of the complexity and beauty of the different Western genres of music.🙏

There is no doubt the singers both father and daughter are good. The tabla player is exceptional and so is the harmonium. They are all equally great artists who make this music divine. I wish their names would also feature in the title. No singer can make music without his accompanists.

Huge respect to Pandit Ajayji’s knowledge. However, I did not get his point on Pandit Kumar Gandharva. Kumarji’s contribution to music is immense especially in Nirguni Bhajans and bringing folk music to the forefront. His style of singing had to be modified as he lost one of his lungs. So the therav may not be as other musicians. But he evolved his style and it reached the hearts of his audience.

i read this somewhere, that the 3 repeats - is because - 3 structural repetitions makes a trend... for instance if we say something once and the second time, the mind immediately wants to hear it one more time to ensure that the trend is complete and it is a full stop post that... so once we've heard it thrice, the 4th does not feel like an alert - because the mind has already seen it thrice and the fourth is seen as nothing strange :) there's also a saying in Kannada called "moorakke muktaya" - which loosely translated means "if you do it thrice, it is deemed complete" ...something to connect this proverb to :) tihaai's
