VRInsight Boeing 737 Overhead_Installation & Review

I have had the VRInsight 737 overhead panel now for about two weeks, which sits perfectly in my home cockpit, so I thought I'd put together a short video sharing my thoughts of the product and talk about it's installation.

Hello XX Your video is very interesting and instructive. Thank you. I also use PMDG 737, Spad.Nxt and the VRinsight OH. I also have good experience with it. But with me the displays for DC and AC are blank. You mention the Spad Profill 6362, I can't find that anywhere. It would be very helpful if you could send me a copy. It's actua;ll;y called a snippet on the Spad UI. You need to click on the third icon down on the left, which is PANELS, then on the right, at the bottom, it is marked as ONLINE SNIPPETS. However, and it took me ages to discover, if you already have an item configured in SPAD, then you need to click on one of the panels as though you are editing it, otherwise the snippets icon is greyed out. Hope that helps.

Enjoying your natural videos Howard. I'm not a fan of all this 'cinematic' stuff with blaring, generic music and fast cut-offs and transitions. I much prefer a natural video like this, where you're either explaining things in your cockpit, or flying in the sim. You have a new subscriber. An Avsimmer, who has been around since 2004. 😀

Hi, OK, so firstly, the profiles are greyed out and unavailable unless you you have the aircraft loaded and have the panel connected. Also you need to have one of the switches clicked on as though yopu are going through the process of configuring switches. I know it seems ridiculous, but I had the same problem as you until someone told me how to do it, very sill That's the only way I have been able to resolve things. Importamt.....I'm assuming you have the panel actually recognised by SPAD and it is showing up. Then: Turn off panel Launch MSFS Load PMDG cold and dark 737 Open SPAD Sync the panel by turning on and off and on again. Click HIGH ALT LANDING button just above logo light Click on the third icon on left (stack of radios)This will bring up a diagram of one of the panel switches Click on any switch in the diagram This will make avaialbe a box bottom right called ONLINE SNIPPET The profile you need is: 6362

Greetings, I would be very grateful if you could guide me, I bought the over head 737-2 and the cdu-2, I use fs2004, I do everything indicated in the vrinsight manual, in conjunction with ifly 737ng, by having the plane turned off and starting the interface and pressed (fly now) it indicates fsuipc is not found, I use the free version 3.99 which the manual indicates mentions that it is the one you need, I have not been able to use my equipment for 1 month, I would like you to help me please, thank you very much and good night.

Sorry my friend, I operate MSFS2020, which I'm 99.9% certain operates in a different manner to fs2004. In MSFS the OH links to the sim via SpadNext. I do remember using the VRInsight Boeing MCP unit in P3d. From what I remember, it was a bit of a faff to get going. I used FSUIPC and LINDA. I don't mean to be rude, but fs2004 is so old, are you sure the units are compatible with that version of sim? What Windows version, is it compatible? I suggest you join the forum Avsim, that way you can get access to many other simmers , some who may share your setup. Good luck.

@@skyhigh776 Thanks for your answer, I use ein 10 and it is compatible since when I bought it they used it in fs2004, but something happens and it doesn't allow me, the linda program is not compatible with fs2004, and sped.next does not have vrinsight in its menu modules..thank you very much.

Rocky, I just received a new 737 Overhead Panel from VRInsight, but installation is proving to be challenging. Did you install both VRiSim and V737 Overhead modules? Must the Panel Installer be run? VRiSim test mode runs fine, with all controls visible and functioning. SPAD.neXt (complete ed.) lists the correct Com port under Panels, but no name and no knobs appear, so I cannot select a snippet. Init log state No Answer from Device, Cannot open port. So I am wondering what you had to do to get SPAD.neXt to recognize the device? I am running MSFS 2020 and PMDG's 737-800. Thanks!

@@skyhigh776 Thanks for the quick reply. There are no switches to click on to then load the snippit, so it appears the panel is not being recognized by SPAD. I will try your start sequence to see if I can get SPAD to recognize the panel. I will report back any results.

@@skyhigh776 THAT WAS IT! The trick was setting the new com port in Serial Devices to the VRinsight protocal (rather than SPAD). Once I rebooted the computer, the overhead panel was recognized. Thank you skyhigh776 for the video link! I am going to write up these instructions and provide to Chris at VRinsight to save others the frustration.

Sure. The way I undertake starting the OH, is I have it switched on before I start SPAD, once SPAD starts up, it goes through the normal start up process then it recognises the panel and as it syncs it asks to switch off the panel and then turn it back on again (occasionally it doesn't show this message in which case I just switch it off and then back on again.). Once I do this, the panel is sinced and works fine. Is this not what you experience?

For instance if I want to turn on the battery switch I will have to pull It down back up then back down for it to work but that’s only on the first go. Then it works like normal After I have to do that everytime I run spad
