Did you ever upgrade the motor? Or find out what the stock motor is? I have a vrx cobra roller ordered and wanted to have my parts ready. Is the factory motor a 5mm shaft? I think vrx has changed the configuration a few times. They include a pinion in the roller package but I think they said it was 5mm when I asked but you cant really get clear answers from them sometimes
@PERTHWESTOZRC2 жыл бұрын
Mines still stock and haven't modded it yet, been meaning too for quite some time just have not got around to it. I don't think it has a 5mm shaft, it would have the standard 3.175mm

That looks really nice Dave. 👍 It actually looks faster to me than was measured. I was thinking about getting one as they seem excellent value but I've heard they use HSP 1/10 diffs and they are a weak link in this truggy especially if upgraded with more power. I don't know how accurate that is.
@PERTHWESTOZRC4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Roger, for the price im really liking this one, i had a feeling by the build quality that this shares a fair bit of parts with HSP which im a fan of also. As far as diffs, that can be a hit or miss deal with any RC, some fail and some last a very long time with no issues. When i upgrade this later on I'll go through and check the diffs for grease etc and service if necessary, they axles do feel rather smooth to turn by hand. If a diff does fail they are rather cheap and easy to replace. Cheers for watching mate 👍🍻🇦🇺 All the best for the New Year
@How-To-RC4 жыл бұрын
Hey roger! I have owned a few hsp vehicle in the past. They are damn good value for what you get. If your on a tight budget and don't mind non top tier rc products they go down a treat. Even the nitros are super easy to tune
@rogerwilco51874 жыл бұрын
@@How-To-RC Yeah I agree they are good value plus parts are cheap and plentiful. I've had a few and currently have a brushless XSTR buggy I got because it was really cheap at the time. The main issue I've found is they can't handle much extra power or speed if you upgrade them as I like to do. 😞
@How-To-RC4 жыл бұрын
@@rogerwilco5187 do they become unstable? I never really got around to upgrading any of my hsp vehicles before i parted with them. I have mostly tamiya vehicles now. Most of my channel is dominated by videos about them 😄
@rogerwilco51874 жыл бұрын
@@How-To-RC I've had a lot problems with the dog bones nearly always bending. Also screws being ripped out of the front plastic suspension parts. Going with aluminium suspension parts fixes that but introduces a lot more wheel play because the wheel bearings now fit too loosely. The axles have too much play in the bearings to start with anyway. Also the aluminium shock towers are very thin and bend easily in the event of high speed cartwheels.

Hiya mate. Hope you had a great Christmas? I liked it a lot but do you think it's worth the 260 dollars price tag when it can barely hit 50 on 3s? It did handle well, even with cornering. What do you recon is needed to improve it in your opinion? Nice review mate. You are a genius with that head cam. I still can't seem to remember I am wearing mine so miss so much footage. 😂😂😂 Have an awesome day today! 😊
@PERTHWESTOZRC4 жыл бұрын
Hi John , Christmas was good thanks, don't forget this test was on grass where there is more resistance and friction. Since posting this video I have seen in another video that on tarmac it gets close to the 60kph stated in the listing. Yeah I think its worth it as its considerably less in price to some of the other truggies out there like the jlb cheetah, j3speed etc. I plan to throw in one of my own more powerful brushless setups in this one and it will still be a cheaper option than the ones I mentioned above 👍😁🍻 cheers for watching mate
@JohnRobinsonRC4 жыл бұрын
@@PERTHWESTOZRC yeah good point buddy. What's the quality like in your opinion?
Is the cobra still a good choice or is there something a bit faster on the market now?
@PERTHWESTOZRC2 жыл бұрын
The Cobra is still a decent platform for the price especially if you can get it on sale, since I received this one in the video, I believe they upgraded the esc to a higher amp rating and possibly the motor as well. You could also upgrade it yourself with a higher kv and larger esc for example. The JLB Cheetah is an awesome rc truck that I recommend but of course it costs more than this vrx Cobra, thanks for watching 👍
