In Chennai or in anyy other district of Tamil Nadu (except NH's), you cannot find a single road wherein the drainage cap is closed in alignment to the road level. Either the drainage cap is exposed at the outer side, or it will have pothole surrounding to that. . Also, you cannot find a single road that is layed perfectly to the level that is prescribed, they keep putting the new roads top above the existing roads which causes inundation. But we deserve these, because we are the one who choose the politicians who have no idea about these, and they don't have any visions to make our life better..

I'm very much ok with the topics you both have discussed, and I appreciate Praveen's acceptance of his misunderstanding regarding the Comparision of developed and developing countries. I appreciate both for highlighting a crucial aspect that we all must follow for India's growth: the need to change our mindset from that of a "developing" country to a "developed" one. As Praveen mentioned, we often treat mistakes with "lethargy" (Alatchiyam), like "oh, it's just a mistake" attitude. However, true progress begins with individual responsibility. Moreover, there is an apparent neglect of safety for hard laborers in India, who are often denied proper uniforms and protective gear. We can learn from countries like the UK, where laborers are provided with neon suits and proper barricades like the traffic cones to demarcate the zone in construction from the usable road to ensure safety. India being a poor country is the thing that we hold like a pride. No idea why! I feel like in a way we are all shamelessly in a victimized mindset, and are not turning a leaf over a healthy mindset. It's like being in a toxic relationship, we know that it's bad, but never change. People litter and spit like so easily. We can't even ask a person to not do that, if we do say we are being treated like an outcast and a pedantic person. We must set an example by maintaining cleanliness, implementing proper garbage disposal systems, and ensuring surveillance and compensation for construction labourers and proper safety for them. We should adopt a mindset of I am the change rather than accusing the person who is providing legal support, "Why didn't you do anything?". Even when no one is watching, we should follow the rules and regulations. This conversation serves as a reminder that change begins with us, and there's much to contemplate and act upon. I've lived in UK for about 13-14 years now. See in UK, road works take very long too. I've worked for UK gov tax company HMRC, I've learnt from seniors that, they still have corruption and bribes, however the net cash left for work just happens to be enough for road works, but they are known for taking years to happen. But if they do happen, yes they have temporary road signals, lanes, ample warnings, diversion signs etc. I personally believe investing in roads, road rules in India will solve most of the problems in India, road safety, tourism, pollution, noise pollution, cleanliness, people will naturally start having a civic sense, people will not be encouraged to leave India after this. 1. Government should introduce compulsory tough driving exams, written and practical (like in UK), for those who already have old license should be given 1 year to do training and switch to new license. In India it costs 2000 rupees to get new license without showing them how to drive. this should be illegal and be reported. 2. Government should introduce speed cameras. 3. Should implement driving lanes, crossing signals etc 4. strict speed limits even in rural roads. Nobody actually knows speed limits anywhere, even I don't know if there is a speed limit. In UK, the speed limit in highways is 70mph, in normal roads with street lamps is 30mph and in school or busy or small roads it is 20mph. In car parks and indoor driving areas, they are like 5mph to 15mph. 5. walking platform for people, if they get hit in the road then it should be thier fault for walking into the road.
