I was shocked to see this as posted only a week ago! This is my number 1 game of all time. Dice Masters, which I also believe shares many similarities with VS, is up to #3 after only a handful of plays. It's too bad you quit after the Superman set. Spiderman and Superman were the worst two sets they designed. Every other set beyond that, with the exception of MEV, was stellar.

Enjoyed this game alot. Still break it out every once in a while. Interesting mechanics, thematic abilities, etc. Great game.

Are all starter sets created equally? Or should I look for a certain set(s) to jump into the game?

I like the Batman one best. It has more to tinker with out of the box. The X-Men one is a bit straight forward.

Indy local Nick Little won that tourney at GenCon, he also co-developed Heroes Wanted with Travis R. Chance, designer of Infamy. My bros! Trav had to drive from Indy to Lafayette to get our starters. He paid more than MSRP and drove it so I kicked him some extra $ anyhow

I like it, it had some good points... but reinforcement rules and the fact that missing a drop could RUIN you really made this game painful to play sometimes. I think a lot of teams weren't that flavorful or good, looking at you Spider-Man. :(
