The fact jake can take such a horrible thing as cancer and turn it into such a story and idea as to how people with these genetic mutations can be true superheroes by fixing other genetic mutations or painful conditions is inspiring. Very interesting, great episode Jake. The painlessness mutation reminded me of the Eragon series, where in one book the evil king puts a spell on some of his soldiers so that they wouldn't feel pain. The book describes a gruesome battle between the Varden's soldiers and the empire's, telling how they would strike down a painless soldier, thinking they were dead, then they would spring back up. They could fight for longer with horrific wounds. Though they were near invincible for a short time, they would die in larger numbers because of their disregard for injury. Cool stuff.

Dude your energy regarding your whole ordeal is amazing About 2 months ago, I went onto KZbin thinking "Hey, VSauce3 hasn't uploaded in a while, I wonder why", then somehow got suggested to your own channel, saw your video about your cancer struggle, and I burst into tears. I don't really know why, because I'm honestly NOT your biggest fan, I find VSauce3 videos amusing when I can't sleep, but honestly I'd rather watch Michael's videos on VSauce. I generally don't feel bad about anything. Even when I was living on sofas and pullout beds after my house burned down back in February, for the most part I didn't really care it happened, because I knew it was all going to be sorted out. But when I heard you ha cancer, I couldn't contain myself, and properly bawled my eyes out for a bit. But you're so positive about it which is absolutely amazing So you may not be one of Xavier's gifted children, but you're certainly a hero

there are also backfires in the comics to. like there is a mutant who uses portals. but every time he uses a portal a chunk of him is gone. wolverine also can't die. (or it takes a lot of effort to kill him)that might sound cool. let's say you're married then you're wife, you're kids every one you love dies before you. physically that's nothing but ,mentally you will eventually feel mental pain. same goes for Deadpool.

I know someone with CIP (or at least something very similar). I believe that there is a low life expectancy for people without the ability to feel pain and so far they are close to the predicted life expectancy. So far, so good for them!

Even though RPGs and fiction books and shows can make the life we live seem dull and boring, our world is no less dramatic. We're playing a different game and living a different story that's different for everyone. The awesome part of our world? Science and our life stories! It's not always about fighting monsters or villains, but discovery is a huge part of the game. There's no doubt scientists of many types in every fictional world and there's definitely a lot of life stories part of them, but our world puts emphasis on them and in its own unique way.

The many life threatening infections I had as a baby and the developmental delays that came along with them got my mom to start Movement Lesson, LLC. My brother’s issues also helped, but my mom continues to help people across the world overcome developmental issues that inhibit movement and others with many other conditions that also inhibit movement.

I can tell you now, that if they come out with a cure for pain, specifically back pain. It'd change my Mum's life. I've never known her to be 100% healthy, can not remember 1 time she was not in pain. My whole life I've spent wishing for something to come along that will help. This may be it, I just hope when they make it, they don't withhold it or charge too much.

Arturas Opulskis can·cer ˈkansər/ noun the disease caused by an uncontrolled division of abnormal cells in a part of the body Deadpool actually has cancer that kills his cells but he also has another type that rapidly regrows them. There are some comics where he dies because of the supposed healing factor he has.

Isn't everything we feel a form of pain, from low to high? Example, When you snap your fingers isn't it pain you feel, except its not as much pain as you would feel if you shut the door on your finger. If you don't feel pain, how do you feel anything?
@KhOrganization8 жыл бұрын
I think it's that you feel it but it doesn't bother you (so you have a high pain threshold) or you just feel it but you don't get the extreme feeling of pain. So you just feel the door press on to your finger. Instead of feeling the pain of the door squeezing it.. I think.

+TigerMane My sister has a really high pain tolerance, she's perfectly fine with needles being plunged into her over and over (like for taking blood samples), but I can't take even a little splinter. I think it's just more on to them, pain isn't "unpleasant". They probably just don't feel something piercing or horrible. If they broke a finger, say, maybe they just feel their finger is in a weird position.
@GigaLigma8 жыл бұрын
+TigerMane Not exactly. Your mind decides whether something feels "okay," "good," or "bad." The lack of pain is the lack of your mind's ability to register "bad." The lack of any feeling at all would be numbness, most likely caused by nerves simply not functioning.
@matthewkress61618 жыл бұрын
No, because your pain receptors are different from your pressure, temperature, etc receptors. Pain is a unique sensation.
