THIS is what VSin needs to be more, Brent needs to be back on the network, Vinny, Jimmy, Amal, the original My Guys in the Desert set up, Mike Palm, Derek Stevens etc - get rid of whoever is in charge of things now & go back to something classy like this, we don't need loud mouth guys in hoodies yelling on Zoom in their basement like sports grid or how terrible ESPN is now

Walters sorta brings up a key point in this...yes, Phil didn't make the bet on the Ryder Cup...but that was a bet with Walters himself as Walters thought it was a bad idea. That doesn't mean that Phil didn't make the bet somewhere else. He just didn't make it with Walters.

@@JamesG1126 Walters didn't want Phil to lie, just tell the truth (that's his version of course). If memory serves (I'm too lazy to look it up as I write this) the prosecutor for the Feds was none other than Dan Goldman, one of the sleaziest operators around who is unfortunately now a congressman from New York. Goldman wanted Walters bad (Walters had beaten the Feds in court many times previously), and Goldman probably told Mickelson that if he testified for Walters that he would come after him for insider trading, but if he played ball, paid back a million, and plead the 5th, he'd leave him be. I'm completely speculating, as I have no inside knowledge of the case, but I do have some inside knowledge of Federal prosecutions in general and let's just say it's hard to tell which side is the actual criminals sometimes in a Federal prosecution case.

I don't think he's suggesting that Phil was the cause of his daughters passing.from my interpretation he's suggesting that Phil's testimony would have supported his defense, and this would have negated a prison term, therefore offering the possibility of Billy Walters being there to mentally support a child who most likely needed his mental support.

Billy never ever addresses all of the evidence against him in the insider trading trial. The guy from Dean Foods testified how he was feeding Billy inside info for years to get out of a gambling debt. He talked about the burner phones they would use and the code words. Billy made like $40 Million trading the stock over the years. Billy was guilty as sin.
