Ever-so prudent sea vessel monitoring, inspection and policing agencies. Policing in the sense of safeguarding maritime redundancy issues.

Do you mean how does one become a VTS operator? In different countries, the Vessel traffic services may work under different authorities. In some areas, it may be the regional or local port authority, in others, it may be a national maritime administration. In some countries, the service may be under the coast guard organisation, or it may be run by a commercial company, etc. Therefore there is no "standard" training program, or "standard" way to become a VTS operator.

Hi Bryan, Yes it depends on what country you're in, or even what state / city. Usually, the authority for maritime safety in each country will set the standards, but each port may have their additional requirements. In Australia where we operate, AMSA is the authority for this and they have info about qualifications and training for VTS operators on their website at www.amsa.gov.au/safety-navigation/navigating-coastal-waters/qualifications-and-training-vts-operators Find out who sets the standards where you are and they should be able to assist. Good luck!
