There's a lot of clients like this. I had a client I rigged a model for; had them look over everything, made sure they liked it all. And then they said they hated the model, didn't like how it ran and that they wanted their money back. I blacklisted them, gave them half and told them I would only do a half refund as they still had the model. They insulted my work and berated me for how long it took despite the fact that I literally had everything in my TOS. Stopped offering refunds after that.

nicer than me because i mean, u literally finished the model therefore u shouldve kept the full amount since u did a full amount worth of work 😅 they wouldve gotten nuffin from me other than a last chance to disclose what they dont like to fix it, or to go work with someone else
@skintsugi18 күн бұрын
@@doghugs6840 i honestly should've but it was one of my first clients and they were telling me they would go tell the mods i was a scammer and get me blacklisted. The work wasn't bad; I'd rigged models for myself and for friends before to get a feel for it. I always give people up to 2 weeks to really tell me if there's anything they dislike/want changed cuz it gives them enough time to really play around with it but they were past the 2 week mark and threatening a chargeback. It was just super messy all around and this was way back in like late 2019/early 2020?? so it was a bit of a smaller community at that point. sucks but learned my lesson after that.

Its not the Artists fault the Vtubers situation changed she deserves what she worked for. I was in the same situation as the vtuber i bought a 360 euro Model that i ended up not being able to use for mutiple reasons (mental health, pc died right after debut, etc.) it feels bad to be in a situation where you really need that money that you basically threw out the window for nothing but it was your own choice to comission someone so you have to pay them. Life really sucks sometimes and your situation can literally change overnight (mine really did) but the sad truth is thats no ones problem but your very own and you got to deal with it somehow.

The absolute audacity to ask for a refund after completion. I always do half upfront for rigs and half before I send the files. That usually works pretty well and protects both sides. Unfortunately it's usually the people who can't afford half or full payment and ask for smaller payment plans who are the worst clients.

can i just say that doing monthly payments is not ideal for any product or service that is a luxury like art. you don't know if you'll have that money tomorrow or for the next payment. if you cannot save up to pay in full then you cannot afford it. a lot of people who commit to these big commissions opt for this monthly payment really cannot afford to buy something like art. yes, even us poor people can occasionally buy nice things - but you need to budget appropriately. like it's sad that she spent all this money on a vtuber she cannot use and she can't pay it right now, but thats the contract she agreed too.

If the customer was so inclined to get money back why not be the one to reach out to others saying "Hey I commissioned this talented artist for a vtuber model but due to personal situations I wasn't able to finish paying it off even tho she completed it. She's comfortable selling it off to make up for the cash lost so would anyone be interested in buying the model through her?" Or something of the sort to get more eyes on it.

If I had the money, I'd pay Emy for a VTube model. I've been for a while considering being a VTuber and Emy's art looks amazing! Plus, she is so understanding and sweet. It's a shame clients tend to be like that with the patient and kind artists. I go on a website called Vograce to turn my artwork into keychains and when I emailed them, the one guy was so understanding and helpful. Even when I had a million questions, he answered them the best he could without a communication misunderstanding. I'd go back to him again the next time I want to turn my art pieces into keychains and the like.

Saying that it's artist fault for not being able to resell is beyond me. I'm quite new myself to this, only did commissions for a year as an artist, but let me tell ya, even with such little experience, in comparison to others,I've almost ended up twice in a similar situation when I had to think about potentially reselling the commission and it absolutely HORRIFIED me! Even if you're art is good, it doesn't mean that commissioned design is! Sorry to 'spill the tea', but it is how it is .0.

I would normally say that yes, even after a model is finished; You have the right to a refund if you did not find it satisfactory. But you have to be polite, you have to make your demands reasonable, you must be professional as much as you need to be formal: These were all things she didn't do. She was brash, disrespectful to her commissioner, and selfish. The issue probably wouldn't of been as conflated if she was professional, but she wasn't. She acted like a brat towards her commissioner, and ruined her reputation. The model maker; ya have to understand, put in time & effort; and yeah they have full rights to sell the model to anyone else if you didn't show proper respect. It's called the open market; and if you try to drag someone's name through the mud? They can sell to another Vtuber entirely since you disrespected them. TL;DR Brat: "Give me my money back, motherf * * * * !" Modeler: "Yeah no, you didn't pay me, reverse uno. I made all this for you, you tried to portray me as a monster, bolt off."
@elsa_g18 күн бұрын
It's not even that she found it unsatisfactory, it's that she didn't have the money to pay.
@tarotsushima333218 күн бұрын
In the case of vtuber models though, this is a months long process with regular checkins and evaluations to be done. Which is why I agree with a bunch of model artists that past a certain point of completion someone isn't entitled to a refund, esp if it's due to something that could have been rectified or changed and the client chose not to. In this case the commissioner did everything right and the client wanted to back away from the deal bc she couldn't finish payment, which in that case she isn't entitled to get any refunded money no matter how nice or mean she was about it. It's not on the artist to manage your finances or your buyer's remorse and it's a good rule of thumb to not break the bank on something you can't guarantee to fully pay. And considering 400 USD is an absolute steal for vtuber model standards it's the artist who's been stiffed in this scenario.
@Queen_Vexus18 күн бұрын
@@tarotsushima3332 That's what I'm saying, the commissioner did everything right. It's the Vtuber demanding money back who's in the wrong. And if the Vtuber is going to be rude about it? They can sell that 3D Model to literally anyone else. Not only is it open market, but the human right to deny anyone service.
@anthonymcneil423818 күн бұрын
Honestly I would disagree with refunds on Vtuber models, and on most art in general. Like the artist and Kat has said, the service was completed and it cannot be undone like a simple transaction can. They spend time, money, effort, etc into making this model, that they will never get back, so I 100% agree they shouldn't allow refunds. If they complete their part of the service, that's it. If you regret purchasing a service im sorry but sucks to suck. Your regret does not change the fact the service was completed, just because you dislike the end product which most times you will have a say in, does not mean you're entitled to your money back. You CHOOSE to commission that artist, you CHOOSE to pay the artist, you CHOOSE to stay silent until the work is completed. Pick your artists better, pick your purchases better, and maybe you'll have less regret in the future.
@Queen_Vexus17 күн бұрын
@@anthonymcneil4238 And in the end I state: If the artist isn't paid? They can sell the Vtuber Model to someone FAR more grateful and willing to pay. It's called free market. Free Market means you can deny service to the one who requested the model, it also means that basically the 3D Modeler can say: "Hey, Model for sale! Ungrateful lil' shit didn't pay me for this! Demanded money back on a completed work, didn't pay in full!"
