A very moving occasion , to be right under the formation as XH558 climbed away with the characteristic Olympus howl as eight Merlins continued straight overhead.
The Avro Anson, another Roy Chadwick design, was a bonus and is included here as something of a memorial to a great aircraft designer whose designs saved the World from an unimaginable fate for two generations.
It was also great to see the two Lancasters display, the BBMF having brought along another RR Merlin in the Hurricane and the distinctive RR Griffon in the Spitfire, Last of the Many.
Many thanks to all in Canada and the UK who helped to make this unforgettable event happen.
Thanks also to all the flight crews for flying in such marginal conditions, the gusts of wind overcame my normally efficient microphone dougal. Sharp gusts of wind and bucketfuls of emotion overcame my normally steady camera hand too.
