he's definitely a very humble player. in a lot of recordings, he'll put his own playing a lot lower in the mix to highlight the other members more, but it never comes off like he's putting himself down.

My god, this is really the epitome of Vulfpeck's original ideal as a studio backing band-- they take second fiddle to Rich and Adam but provide the solid-est of backing drums, bass, and piano for the rhythm and pacing. Really awesome song, stuck with me when I discovered awesomeness that was Vulfpeck. Hopefully it'll always be in my top 5 for them... or hopefully not, as they keep blowing it out of the water! PS one of the songs for sure on my, "hey mom check out this it's awesome I'm in love" chats.

Hey so, I really like the sound of Joe’s bass in this song and I’d like to sound like close to it. Is Joe using a fretless with a sponge? It sounds fretless during the his solo. I’m assuming he’s using the always elegant fender but I’d like to know more about that bass.
@Kevsy71
@Kevsy71 5 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure it's a fretted Squier Classic 60s P bass with flatwounds and a combination of sponge and Carol Kaye's felt mute approach (see 'tip 100' on her site, www.carolkaye.com/www/education/tips51.htm, although for this song, Joe appears to hold the felt against the underside of the strings with sponge/foam rather than tape). I agree he gets a great tone with it!
