Fun fact, this is not the original vulfpeck. Legend has it that years ago Jack "Jack Stratton" Stratton went to a sauna and forgot one of these lil hats when he left, and then slowly whole new group of musicians, an exact copy of Vulfpeck, was grown through the sheer amount of funk (and a bit of Jack's DNA) left on that hat. They have now achieved their full form and are publishing to Vulf's youtube without Jack or any of the other members even knowing about it.

@@simonschmitz6719 the more important instruments? LMFAO
@futabamajima2 жыл бұрын
@@simonschmitz6719 you're looking for complex musical debate in a vulf yt comments section if you insist i rephrase my comment though, i shall provide. Considering the popularity of the improvised "pocket" bass solos of the critically acclaimed bass player of Vulfpeck, such as those on My First Car and Beastly, the second of which was written by the cowriter of the new single, it is interesting that New Guru concludes on one such element rather than utilizing the more typical structure employed by Jack Stratton's music (with bass solos typically being followed by a return to the song's main motif). However, the continuation of R&B singer's Antwaun Stanley's singing of the song's chorus keeps in line with the typical feeling of completeness present at the end of Vulfpeck's songs. This is an interesting structural decision which results in hightened tension near the end of New Guru that leaves the listener with a longing for more, without it feeling disappointing or "cut off."

The first half of this song, amidst a tracklist of already insanely high quality, I was thinking the same no doubt as the rest of you: 'oh shit this one is gonna be the favourite, fucking vulfpeck dude this is great' Then it got to the bridge/transition with Antwuan in the middle. As i'm sure it's done with many other people and as is done in a lot of the best songs generally: those lines found their way to me at a real low point, when I really really needed them. I cry to music all the time for various reasons and I love it, its very cathartic, feels like one of the few actually healthy things I do for my own brain. With their excellent songwriting and a bit of chance, I didn't even get a vote, I was producing tears like that, like exhaling a breath. This now joins an exclusive sub category within a sub category of my favourite songs: ones that make you cry, but tears of joy and then write some long comment of appreciation about them. Absolute banger with heart and pocket to spare, thank you all :)
