Love "Barbara." What a tight-ass groove. This stuff is GREAT not because it's "innovative" or the "flavor of the month" crap you hear on the radio. It's great because it follows a formula and sound from 70s soul and funk. No need to fix what is not broken. It's nice that there are still musicians that can lay down a REAL groove like this. I love good music. This is real and good--great combination.

I don't think you hear any "innovative" music on the radio. If anything, songs that get radio play are ones that follow a tried and true formula that the industry have been churning out. Barbara is great because of how tight they are. And the syncopated keyboard makes it extra groovy.

I just got tickets to see them at their residency in Brooklyn. So happy. When someone asked me what their music was like, at first i had a hard time. Funk just doesnt cover the whole vibe. Eventually this is what I came up with: If Bill Murray, around the time that he was making Meatballs and Stripes, had made a summer comedy about working at a car wash in the late 70s, Vulfpeck would have been the soundtrack. 4:58
