At the time of this upload, it has been 5 1/3 years since #CoryWong stepped out on stage for the first time with Vulfpeck on June 22, 2016. This was the first of two shows at the Teragram Ballroom that introduced Cory to the greater Vulfverse, and led him to being a full-time member from 2017 onward. Oddly, the second show only has two songs uploaded to KZbin, of which “Cory Wong” was used from the June 23, 2016 performance on the official album recording & video release. They also had Joey Dosik open both nights and come on with the band for the bookends of Outro & Love and Happiness. It gave everyone a taste of what was to come when #Vulfpeck became a 6-piece band.
There is a little bit of a comment #JackStratton makes before Beastly that maybe haunts him to this day. He asks the audience to post their videos to KZbin and he will go through and make a concert video with them using the soundboard recording they were making of this and the following night’s show. It never came to fruition...until now! Well, minus the soundboard recording. Jack, if you ever read this, if you can hook a brother up with the soundboard recording, I’ll mesh it into this video and will help fulfill your promise that night. :)
Some technical stuff: There are at least two videos used on everything through to Beastly, thanks to LinZ Hurst & Daniel Kirby. It Gets Funkier & Love and Happiness only had LinZ’s recording, so I did my best to give it the illusion of being multi-cam. There are some edits they made in their videos that I tried to work around where possible, but they do pop up from time to time. Love and Happiness is missing a segment, so I just faded the two parts together to make it less jarring.
I hope you enjoy reliving this night if you were there, or seeing it for the first time in this new form. Thank you to everyone that did what Jack asked that eventful night and I hope I did it justice putting it all together. Enjoy!
