Looking back now I don’t fault my dad for ever giving me the love he did because that’s all he knew. Now as an adult I have forgiven him and have worked with him rather than fault him for being the person he’s known to be for so long. I think Hispanic men have always been told to not show feeling, vulnerability, love because it’s a sing of weakness and it’s important going forward to break the cycle.

That’s true! My dad came from a very very strong family that as a man you can’t show weakness, or being able to be vulnerable.. and being raised like that he raised us my sister and I,, his two girls it’s a caos .. because me personally I don’t know how to be vulnerable, I don’t know how to show when im hurst, or things like that because that way I was raised… and we as a kids we have to brake that cycle… now that I’m a mom of 3 kids and having 2 boys(19-11) and a girl (5) I teach them that being vulnerable, doesn’t mean to be weak, to express their feelings, the way they think is weakness!! Proud of your relationship with your dad! Keep the hard work, wishing you many blessings 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Shoutout to these MEN for having the cohones to do this...I know my scary ass could never, but I'm perfectly fine with that. At least I have first-hand experience on how NOT to parent lol

Knowing how NOT to is just as important as knowing how to. But please don’t believe that you could never get to this point of being this vulnerable and open and honest. You absolutely can, it just takes work, and kindness to yourself. I hope you get there if you want to ❤️

The dad has previous traumas that the kid doesn’t realize too. Even tho the kids is pushing for the dad to express his emotions he’s not being considerate that the dad still have trauma and have a shield up.

Vulnerability is a weakness. People don't like broken things. It's a weakness. Stop giving bad advice. Immediately you show some signs of vulnerability, that's it. Your life is ruined forever. Society would never treat you the same. You'll be looked down on and treated as an outcast. Stay strong.

It is not weakness. It is fraudulent. It constricts us from truly connecting because we fail to be honest with our own feelings. Vulnerability does get in touch with revealing your weaknesses but it does not make you weak. When vulnerabilities are validated, it can be the most empowering aspect in everyone's lives. THIS is where love deepens because you are honest with yourself and the people you value in your life. WHEN the support system is weak, that is when being vulnerable can be discouraging. When your vulnerabilities are used against you, these people may not have the best interest in mind, especially towards your overall well-being. THAT is what makes people feel discouraged to be vulnerable. Being open about your feelings, your values, who you really are, thats when you open yourself to others, and potentially open the conversation of people that may relate with you. Connecting with people that can level with you and support you given your vulnerable side is what makes it beautiful, Empowering, and fulfilling. Im sorry that you feel this way. I hope you can one day feel validated with your vulnerable side. FUCK society; choose your inner circle wisely because there is nothing more rewarding than feeling supported from the people that accept YOU as who you are, including your weaknesses. Genuine support from your selective inner circle is crucial. This helps accept the sides of you that society may shame you of. Being unapologetically you is the true strength in all. Adhering to societal standards make us weaker in the long run. FUCK society, nurture the relationships that validate and accept you as who YOU are.

I find people who are never vulnerable and always put up a wall to be weak, the hardest thing and bravest thing you can do is make yourself vulnerable
