Does it work with normal radio? All the videos on KZbin are about touch screen setup. How do I set it up for audio feedback of map directions.

in South Africa, you need to pay R5000 to get this working. This is a feature that comes with the car? I see the App connect button on the touchscreen but I have to activate it at VW for addisional R5000... That just don't make any sense. Android Auto app also not available in county.

I have a 2018 vw beetle, but my stereo doesnt look like the one in the video and I am unable to get this to work. One of the perks to buying this car I was told it does Android Auto. I am disappointed.

Thanks for the video, it is perfectly explained and I see you're a real nerd :) I'm very interested in Android Auto for a new replacement of my glorious 2007 VW GTI radio. Love my car bought new and I'm not sure to swap it for a new one but maybe it's time for a radio update. Going to watch the second part ;)

You should research all the problems with android auto before you buy. My GTI Sport works perfect for about 15 minutes and them all kinds of problems begin to occur. Very disappointed with Google for all the quirkiness.

Mine does not work. I have a 2018 passat and I'm using a galaxy s10 with the factory charging cable. Any suggestions why it wouldn't be syncing?

I did it this morning. Make sure you connect via blutooth before trying to go through the cable and be patient while everything loads up. Give the car and phone lots of time to link it's a fairly slow process. Once it's linked things go quickly.

greekgroover it will speak your turn-by-turn directions over the speakers, and you will be able to see the map on the touchscreen.

Tnx for the answer. So it will only show map+route on the central touch screen but not the display in front of you? that's a shame...

greekgroover That's right, no directions in the MFI screen between the guages, at least not yet.

Oh, I was not talking about the MFI between the gauges but the new active info display that also "simulates" the gauges and shows the vw's routing information

I've followed every step and when I select my device it switches from Android auto to MirrorLink then errors out. Any suggestions?

@@deonhrupnarain I fixed this issue by updating my Google Play Services. For some reason this was not getting auto updated. Hope this helps.

I have an HTC One(M8) and a 2017 GTI. I cannot change the preferred connection from mirror link to Android auto as per the instructions at 3:15 in the video. does anyone have any advice on how to resolve this issue?

Alex Walker I just saw this; sorry for the slow response. If you haven't gotten this fixed already, I would recommend letting your local dealership service department have a look.

Alex Walker it may have more to do with the operating system than the phone...it has to be running "Lollipop 5.0" or newer
