Great job on the Bug! I have that same one from when I was a kid (1981!) I was obsessed with Beetles as a kid and this was the closest to Herbie I would get until the Johnny Lightnings in the 90s. Very cool unboxing too!

what a nice bug it is now. :) I used to have the same one, but eventually gave it away. great colour, great wheels. now it looks more serious and like a model car than just a toy. :) interesting finds there. I love it when I find a casting I don't need, but still want because it's so odd and "haven't seen that before!". :) the encyclopedia of matchbox toys identifies the porsche as a part of a "Glo Racers" series, which actually glow in the dark. yours is the GR-9 Turbo Flash (the book doesn't give away what they were modeled after, but from the looks I guess they used existing castings). the line was introduced in 1982, and they resold the molds in 83. the Foamite crash tender seems to be rare with a silver nozzle, the book states. the golden nozzle seems to be the standard. I found a strange matchbox ferrari at the flea market where you can turn around the cabin to make it either closed top or open convertible. they were called Swop Tops... another "never seen before". :)

I was pleased when you said the paint job would be a jade green. I think that it looks more like an emerald green, and there ain't nothin' wrong with that. I'm like #138. Another 1,862 to go and who knows? You should at least take apart the Turbo Flash to see what's on the inside.

This is a nice casting. Holy Smoke this one gets a seriously nice reboot..... I have a pair of these one black and one purple. The black looks like it's been "customer" & looks abysmal, though it was only £0.33 in all fairness. I'm going to give that a sort out and leave the factory purple one well alone.
