I just bought a 1969 VW Dune Buggy (Manix , I think) and when not driven for a few months, the brake pedal goes all the way to the Floor. No sign of a leak, anywhere. I fill the reservoir with fresh fluid and the Next day it is fine. Hmmm? Brake Pads are good, just No pedal when sitting for a while. I'm guessing the problem is in the Master Cylinder. Love your show and give me a Hint and I'll buy a Sticker and a Shirt! Stay healthy brother!!!

Currently working on my 1970 beetle. Replaced the front and rear brakes and the brake pedal only has resistance right before it hits the floor. The brakes do work but the pedal feels much worse than it used to. I replaced the rubber front hoses, leaky brake light switches, and bled the brakes thoroughly, none of which fixed the problem, so I am going to try replacing the master cylinder. Thanks for your informative videos!

Glad you’re feeling better now. Was wondering, no videos lately. For brake lines are you using the stainless steel ones or the Teflon covered steel ?. Also I have a German master for a 71 Super Bug (which I was restoring originally then gave up due to the amount of rust and I am working on 68 standard one) , could it fit the 68 standard one ? Both have one outlet for brake lights. Only difference I can see is standard master has 3 outlets (2 for front right and left and third one is rear one) the Super master only has 2 one for front and the second for rear which I can use a copper splitter to make it fit right and left like the Standard beetle master. Only thing I am left with is the attaching it to firewall and pedal cluster. Because you did both super beetle and now you’re doing the standard one, do you think the super beetle master would fit the standard beetle ? Issues here are the one I have is a German one that cost me around AUD500 after shipping to Australia also expensive as it is a LHD (LEFT hand drive 😬) not as much lucky as you guys in the USA 😊. Sorry about the lengthy question I can send you photos if need be. Thanks a lot in advance for your time and help. Cheers from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺

Hey Slade. I finished up replacing my master, and all my break lines and hoses on my 72 Super Beetle yesterday. Ya!! I’m slow, lol. In the Bentley VW Service manual it says unscrew the switch from the master cylinder, keep the sealing washer. I didn’t see any sealing washer. New switches didn’t come with anything. What you think🤔. Am supposed to have some kind of sealing washer. My switches were three wire. The middle or odd spade had the red stripe wire which goes to the warning light I’m pretty sure. The other two opposing spades had black wires. I didn’t think it would matter which terminal on the pressure switch they went to since they were just completing the circuit and I didn’t mark them. Do you think it makes a difference. Maybe you don’t remember right off. I got try to get this baby bled now. Lol. Got a feeling that’s not going to be fun.
