G'day Mike, Perfect timing with installing this part. I've only just ordered mine today. So now I'm all knowledged up. 👨🎓 Thanks for sharing man ✌️ Peace from Melbourne Australia.

Factory way to install is to press them in with special VW tool I don’t know the number. A length of threaded all rod and heavy duty washers and/or socket or some type of long spacer and you can pull the bushings in without having to hammer on them and possibly deformed them. Obviously either way it works and even if you pull them in you’re still supposed to ream them or like Mike did sand them to the proper ID.

Yea I was going to mention you could use a treaded rod or bolt with washers to do the same. the C clamp works just fine thought. and they are pretty strong and take a pretty good hit with the hammer and socket without damaging them.

Question ... Just as easy to leave the upper grease nipple in to avoid dust ? Kind Regards Alex
@Mikefngarage Жыл бұрын
no the bushing is there so no dust will go in that area. and if you put the grease fitting in the hole it might crush the bushing a little.

Question, as far as the seal goes, could you press the bushings in just a pinch more to create a space for the seal to go? Does the pin have to ride against the end of the bushing? Thanks
@Mikefngarage Жыл бұрын
no there is a spacer in there on the bottom for that.

do you know why bay window center pin kits don't need to be reamed?
@Mikefngarage Жыл бұрын
I really dont know why any of them need to be reamed. Why cant they make a bushing that fits. IDK. it is just the deal.

I have put that on Rambus 4-5 times and always have to hone them after I beat the brass in .
@Mikefngarage Жыл бұрын
they say you are suppose to use a Reamer. But the hone works Ok. no need for that.

very good lesson, should work well on king pins too. it's nice to hear an American who can speak through the mouth rather than the nose with that tight throat choking inflection
