Your curtains behind the cab seats should have been thermal blockout fabric or backing lined. It a very common type of curtain fabric and readily ava in fabric stores. You could now just get the thermal lining and attach to your current fabric curtains. The good part is it doesn't fray so can simply cut to size and stitched to the existing curtains. I would stop the lining just short of your hardware fittings so as to not create bulk behind the hardware. Not only would it blockout the light but also keep out the heat in summer and cold in winter, if your planning on using year round. Great job. Enjoy!

No it’s almost impossible to get it classed as a camper. Even if you follow all the rules they still deny it most of the time. The full list of rules are on the DVLA website but most people try and give up because they don’t even give an explanation to why they’ve denied it

@@Adz the big blocker for most these days is the requirement for a high-top roof. If you don't have that you've got no chance as it now a core requirement (from UK Gov website): - 2 or more windows on at least one side of the main body (this does not include windows on the driver or passenger doors) to provide a reasonable amount of daylight into the living accommodation - a separate door which provides access to the living accommodation of the vehicle (this excludes the driver and passenger doors); a window on this door counts as a separate window on the main body - motor caravan-style graphics on both sides of the vehicle - an awning bar attached to either side of the vehicle - a high-top roof (this does not include a pop-top elevating roof)

Thanks! Yeah I didn’t want a side kitchen because I needed the bed to be a certain size. The frame is 120cm wide by about 175cm and then the wooden board overhangs by about 10cm at the back to make it about 185cm long. It’s basically a small double. The guy who made it was an eBay seller that sells frames and I just asked him to customise the size for me and he did. There’s a few sellers that do the frames I think

Nice conversion! The bubble foil everyone uses is fine for vapour barrier but useless as an insulation or sound deadener! The plastic bottle insulation is great but needs a vapour barrier! 👍
@Adz2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I used a separate sound deadener. And not standard foil, it was insulated too. But also vapour barriers do more damage than good a lot of the time. I think it’s far better to control moisture levels rather than to attempt to stop it reaching the metal. Because it inevitably will in a van and then the vapour gets trapped behind the barrier and can’t dry which causes a problem

You can use the alternator of the running engine to change your leisure battery via the (cigarette/12 volt accessories socket on the dash it's better if this is dead when the ignition/engine is switched off. You need to check that this is switched by the ignition switch or you discharge your starting system. But if it is switched off with the ignition your engine changes your leisure battery all the time the engine is running.

It’s not as simple as just plugging it into a 12v socket unfortunately. It needs a split charge relay or even better a b2b charger which is what I have. I’ve also got a solar controller built into the b2b charger so it’s all good :) but thank you for the comment!

The camper itself is really innovatively planned and very well implemented. I really like it and I am massively impressed! I don't know how many times you've heard this before and I don't feel like reading through so many comments... but here are 2 points you could possibly improve. 1: 1. you should only mount the carbon monoxide sensor close to the ground. About 30 cm, but definitely at the bottom edge of your bed. At the height where it is currently installed, you would inhale the carbon monoxide before the sensor can sound the alarm. 2. The bed construction is really very stable. It also looks very heavy. I for one would make a couple more bolts to the base plate. I don't currently believe your bed could withstand a rear-end collision and be held securely in place. I only mean well and this is not meant as flaming or hate. It would be a shame if something serious happened because of something like this. Have fun with the undercover camper! Greetings from Bavaria :-D
@Adz2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! Although if I placed the carbon monoxide detector low down it wouldn’t be effective. They need to be placed high up. I think you’re getting carbon monoxide confused with propane. Propane is heavier than air. But carbon monoxide is lighter. As for the bed. The fixings on the floor are weak because the wooden floor is so thin. They’re just in place for a little bit of extra security. There’s a few plates that hold it directly into the metal wall of the van though so it should be all good. It would’ve been nice to secure it through the floor completely though, so I may do that at some point. And thank you!

@@Adz Wow, I didn't expect a response. Oh crap, then I was wrong about this device. I installed a combi gas detector in the motorhome at the time and it had to be installed as I mentioned. You are right. That was mainly because it was supposed to warn against propane. My mistake. If you have considered the bed, everything is fine. I have already subscribed to you because I like the way you have converted the camper and it is really something different from the usual. I'm looking through your videos bit by bit. These are perfect for a day with a hangover xD. It would be interesting to see a video of what your daily costs are when you are on the road, with food, showers, laundry, fuel and everything else. The camper also costs taxes and insurance. In any case, thanks for your answer. I wish you a good trip and many more fans and videos :-D

Yeah I thought the same about the carbon monoxide detector until I read the instructions it came with! Hopefully the bed is ok because there’s no more places to fix it now haha. And yeah I try to And sure I respond to all comments but I only get notifications for the 1st comment, and not replies that are attached to it for some reason! I think I’ll be doing a van tour video but mainly I’ll be sticking to vlogs because not all of the audience have vans so they might get a bit bored of I go into too much detail unfortunately. If I ever do a live stream I can talk about stuff like that though. And thanks again!

Looks good, the vinyl flooring is a good idea for cutting down on weight as well as costs. One thing, you need to put your Carbon Monoxide detector close to the floor as it is a heavier gas so will sink.
@Adz2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The vinyl flooring was definitely a good move and there’s so much choice in design :) but yeah I think you’re thinking of a propane detector because the gas is heavier. Carbon monoxide is around the same density as air so they need to be placed just below ceiling height because the carbon monoxide will rise with warm air

All good! I think if I had a bigger van I’d get a bigger gas canister and then get a propane detector as well x

Excellent video and editing skills, probably one of the best laid out micro campers I've seen, course I'd have put a diesel heater under the drivers seat and swopped your fridge out for a smaller model and used the space for a chemical loo of some sort, happy trails 👍🚙👌
@Adz Жыл бұрын
Yeah the original plan was a diesel heater under the seat. I have always considered it but in the end I’ve done ok without it. But yeah the next van will definitely have one. Thanks!
