VW Golf 5 power steering connector / electric power steering assist

My friend you might have helped me save loads of money this I will know tomorrow. My car (Jetta Mk6 1.4 tsi 2013) was fine yesterday no problems then suddenly this morning when I stared the car I heard the ping warning sound and steering wheel, esc, abs etc lights came on, I thought it was a wheel sensor problem then when I try to drive out the steering was stiff like theres no power. In my country mechanics will take advantage of this situation and get you to change power steering rack (4500) or power steering module etc it's sad but that's how things are gone are days when mechanics were honest at least in my country its like that sigh. Anyways, I searched forums couldnt really find a much help but theres some who says check fuse box etc when I popped the hood and looking towards the right side of the car where the fuse box is I saw a connector I didn't know what is is for but it was damaged one of those wires broke off. So I searched youtube and found your video I saw the same connector was suddenly feeling hopeful that this could be the source of the problem if indeed it is I owe you buddy thanks again God Bless you and your family.

Thanks for posting! My son's VW CC has the same issue, the only difference is that is intermittent. You try to start the car, it won't and gives you the red steering light warning, you try it again, and it is all good. I will investigate and when I find the solution I will write a comment and post a video.

I had the same problem in a 2009 Tiguan, I checked the fuse bus first, but it still showed up intermittently. This connector has an orange rubber, I guess with the time it gets thicker and it wasn't possible to plug the connector until it clicks. I just cut a little bit the rubber so now is firmly connected. The problem was fixed.

Lol he doesn't even check to repair dtc and just clears it. I would check those issues. But thanks for showing me where steering assist connector is located that's all I needed. Noone else seems to show it in youtube so I appreciate that.

Well thank you so much I have an 07 Jetta. This was the fix simply unplugged it plug it back in started the car back up and problem solved.

What if mine is stuck on yellow? The steering isn't hard but not as smooth as it usually is when the light is off.

@@angelosraftopoulos8466 The CCM module located under the steering wheel was getting a loose connection. It's under that roundish plastic thing under the steering wheel. Turns out this module also controls the windshield wipers.

So weird question. So why steering wheel abs and traction all came on yellow after i replaced the battery due to needing to replace my cv axle and it dieing from sitting so i replaced it and its been yellow for a month driving never fixed itself. So i needed my wheel hub replaced so had it replaced and on the way home it turned red and so i turned the car off and it would go back to yellow well now after a day its constantly red and it beeps as soon as you turn the car on. I was wondering if you ever ran i to that. I mean it drove perfectly fine and even with the power steering gone my wheel still goes back to the center when turning. Yes im driving it because i have to. I just didnt know if theres anyway to reset without going to the dealer costing all kinds of money for no reason. I also cleaned the grounds and checked the connector.
