Even if checked if you test with a multimeter, it may appear OK, but there id still arcing internally. A multimeter works at about 9 Volt, but the actual voltage is 15000 to 25000. A different story. I have experienced this. They last 3 years max.

Good tip is to run your engine in the dark and spray water mist over it while it is running. If any of your HT leads are not insulating properly, you'll see the arcs in the dark, and you'll know where the issue is.

Yes that is correct. Thanks!

Also wise to invest in that multimeter and just do continuity and resistance check, I myself got fooled by replacing coil first then it was the leads, but I was wet behind the ears then, lol.

Hi Guys. Just need to point out I'm aware that there are various Brands of HT Leads on the market, and it's entirely up to the individual to buy whatever he's prepared to pay. The emphasis of this Video was to focus on the principle of diagnosing and detecting Misfires.. Thanks for viewing.. :). And I trust it enlightened, and gave you some kind of direction as to what action to take with regard to your misfire

@pjs-golfmk1-diy9 ай бұрын
Hi ,cap and rotor won't affect the timing.just ensure u put the leads into the correct holes when you do the cap.do it one by one..then u good Ensure u put the cap on exactly as the previous one...and also make sure you snap the rotor down securely

May I point out that the ''main'' lead from the coil works four times harder than the leads to the plugs, and is more likely to give trouble. I would like to hear from readers what their experience has been with carbon powder filled leads

Hi pj thank you for the videos.why when i drive my car warm and switch if of it does not want to start again i must wait like 5 min until it starts again ?

Could be flooding,or fuel getting too hot if you using the fuel separator ..fuel gets so hot in there it vaporises..making it hard to start ..that's why it must cool down .

Whatever you do don't pull on the leads..pull on the metal part.

Use a plyers if you still can't get it off.,but don't use brute force on the metal part,.just ensure it grips around tight enough and then pull upwards

Hi PJ my golf mk1 switches off or at struggles when I accelerate hard while idling, however if I press the accelerator slowly it revs okay, what can the issue be? secondly theres a squeeshing sound coming from my engine can it be the Cam belt
@pjs-golfmk1-diy2 жыл бұрын
Hi, try to determine what that noise is.. It could be an airleak at the servo pipe coming from brake booster.. Or even the carb base plate..
