VW Golf Mk6 (K5). Episode 4. New front brake discs and pads.

Episode 4 of repairs on my Wife's new Golf Mk6 (K5) .
Its time for some routine maintenance in time for winter and in this video I fit new front brake discs and brake pads.
This is the same process for the Mk 5 Golf and for many other VW group cars of the era (Skoda, seat, Audi etc)
This video shows the left side in detail as this side has the brake wear warning wire and the right side is exactly the same but without the sensor wire.

CHEERS. I didn't, I only drilled the head off to remove the disc as the rest of the screw was well and truly seized into the hub.

Thanks. I placed the stand on the lower control arm mount NOT the lower control arm itself.

Can you change the pads without taking off the caliper holder? Bolts of mine is rusted and there is not grip to loosen it up.

yes. you can change the pads with the caliper bracket in place, just remove the slide bolts.

Curious if the paste you applied was grease or a copper anti-seize?

I'm sure this is the job where I decided to try high temp silicone grease which is meant to be the new way to go. It not only acts as an anti seize but it also lubricates the slide pins better than copper slip and won't burn off or melt as it gets warm.

I can only speak for the car I was working on which used T40 slide pins.
