Kudos to VW, they really managed to stir up a lot of excitement for what is basically an ID.4 with a more utilitarian cabin. And yet, this seems in some strange sense very cool, while the ID.4 is just yet another boring electric SUV. Who knows, maybe the Buzz / Cargo will become popular not only for professional use, but also with families.

@@jordipalacios8608 Honestly, I do not think that even the version with the large battery (110 kWh or so) will get a real-world range of 400 miles. More like a bit over 400 km, at least with highway speeds, similar to say a Tesla Model 3 with its smaller battery, but much better aerodynamics. It will still be sufficient for most buyers.

Always been tempted by the idea of an old VW bus to drive around the country here in the US. Been excited about Volkswagen's offerings in the EV space, but not enough to consider eventually getting one - but this is a unique enough form factor (and I love that you can fit a mattress in the back) that if I were in the market for a new EV in the next couple of years, I'd be really tempted.

The reason its pulling to the left it its a left hand drive car and the alignment is made for driving on the right side of the road . You see the roads aren't flat they are tilted to the side so that the water drains to the side. The alignment compensates for that tilt

As a Honda Odyssey owner with two kids and two dogs, I absolutely want to an ID Buzz. Needs it has to have before I trade in my current van would be a fold flat third row, comparable cargo volume, and a 300+ mile range per charge. 200+ miles for living in Southern California is just not enough when fully loaded with bikes and the family.

A lot of people who travel with vans have fitted some on their roof to provide electricity to plugs, kitchen hardware and so on. The Mercedes EQXX prototype has some too for adding some additonal power to reduce the power usage of interior comfort features like heated seating and such. Of course you won't get any significant range from that, most people know that, but it will help with all the rest of the car that also needs power.

Man, the ID.Buzz is such a cool concept. Did you know that VW has been developing this for a very long time now? The first time I saw an image of the prototype that was to become the ID.Buzz was way back in the mid-2000's They really took inspiration from the original Transporter, and made a very cool retro-modern design. If I ever wanted an electric car, this would be the one. Especially the 4WD version, with 300 HP

I’ve put on my anorak for this…….. the VW type one was the Beetle…… the type two was the utility van on a modified Beetle floor pan, the type three was the more conventional looking but still rear engined car, which I remember as a Variant However, VW then started calling later type two vans T3, then front engined T4 etc etc £50k makes any other comment superfluous 🙁 Your usual review with flair 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🇬🇧🥳

10s acceleration IS wonderful for a base model van with the smallest battery and the least powerful motor option. Diesel: Mercedes Vito 112 CDi 2.2 Panel Van: 17.8s Mercedes EV VAN: Mercedes MQV 10.3 to 12.1 seconds, 213mile range with bigger battery (90kWh) Anyway all these videos are not full reviews but first looks and drives of a pre-production vehicle

Actually initially disappointed - was hoping for longer battery range, greater visibility all around (larger/more windows, less visually intrusive seats, and pillar supports clog vision), seating closer to the window for the driver, and I thought there was supposed to be an enormous sunroof (maybe that is obscured or hidden). It seems like the free nature of the original inspiration has been corporatized and run through too many committees (or at least the wrong types of committees). - Just my initial reaction and I'll eat my words if I"m wrong when it's fully revealed.

Cool van, yeah, but I use my T5 to usually do my summer trips, that include over 2000 miles of road trips. I also doubt that the van loaded with 5 people and luggage will handle more than 180 miles on a charge, also with climate control on maximum. Cool ideea, but this would rather suit like an airport people carrier rather than a traveller’s van. We just want a simple reliable 2 litre diesel that goes 500 miles on a refuel.

There's a ~110kWh version coming some time next year. That's 300-350 miles. Road trips are totally possible if you charge when you stop to use the toilet or eat. That said, I wish it were a bit more efficient so this version would be closer to 240 and the bigger version closer to 400.

Hmmm. Nice concept and stylishly packaged, but 200 miles of range without luggage, passengers, inclement weather or anything attached to the roof or the towbar isn't great. I once did 697 miles in the UK in one day in my Citroen relay, fully loaded and towing a trailer. I took 5 minutes out to refuel and that was it. I'd have had to recharge at least 6 times in this EV.

You're not going to get 120 drops on a van that size. For general parcel delivery use this is going to be around 60 drops. Stop/start is bad for EV mileage but low speed driving is good. Most parcel loads aren't too high in weight these days so I'd not worry about that. I'd expect it to comfortably be in the 150-180 mile range with commercial use.

The range is suffiecient i think. Amazon has bought quite a lot Mercedes Benz eSprinters, here in Germany they have slmost completely replaced all other large vans ..The eSprinter has a range much worse that 207 miles, maybe even half of it. VW will also later add an even smaller battery, i guess this is what most delivery companies are going to order.

Hmm, probably still ok in most cases as runs that contain 5-6 hours actual driving time can't possibly be many drops. For example a parcel run in the Highlands in Scotland could possibly cover 200 miles in a day, but if it does it's not likely to have more than 10-20 drops because if it does the driver goes over hours.

Yes, I would definately want one! We have 4 children (11-14yrs) and we need a 6+ seater. We have had a BMW 2 Grand Tourer, multiple Skoda's Kodiaq and a Renault Espace. There is not much to choose in EV land for 6+ seaters. I can't effort a Tesla X. The new MB EQB? Mèh, no. The Tesla Y 7p? Maybe, but legroom is barely sufficient. The ID.Buzz would be excellent as a last family carrier before the kids will drive with their own set of wheels. After that, there will be plenty of choice again.

As a generation six t6 owner I'm very excited about this, all but the towing limit... I use my bus for the family, camping and towing the classics / race car to events. This tow limit will keep me in the diesel Do love the styling and in a classic colour scheme and wheels I can see an order placed on a higher power version assuming it can then tow more

Please also state the maximum kwh of AC charging Because the id 3-4 are limited to 11.2 kwh charging so if you have a 22kwh charging station you can only use 11.2kwh ... Which is quite some difference in charging speed when charging at home

The metrics on battery capacity and charging speed are switched up in the video. Capacity is kWh and power/Charging speed is kW.

Can't wait to see the reviews. The only thing I'm really interested in is its true range with all 8 seats full with an average weight of 200lbs per person. More interested in the all wheel drive version as this seems much safer with that many occupants. I own an electric fiat and it's all good until you load all 4 seats down. The power to push that car goes up drastically. 15 miles using about 20 percent of the battery ends up going to 40 percent or more depending on hills.

I think this thing is really cool. The camou hurts the eyes, but if they sell it in 'two tone' like the old VW vans, this will be one of the hottest things on the market. Just a shame it will be too expensive to be really accessible to everyone...
