danke für das ausgezeichnete review. ich habe seit dem ich 5 jahre alt war nur VW´s erlebt. jetzt 30 jahre später hätte ich so gerne einen elektro vw gekauft. ABER. das sie bei ihrer angeblichen so "zukunftsweisenden" und außergewöhnlichen neuen Elektro Plattform - nicht mal geschafft haben einen FRUNK einzubauen - ist einfach nur schmutzig. ja und wenn man den verlgiech macht ID4 um 60k und model y um 60k ist es eh gleich klar wer hier der sieger ist. schade aber bye bye vw konzern :) sind wohl eher die kindheitserinnerungen von den vw busen, golfs etc. der vw konzern war meistens nur darauf aus seine kunden zu melken und jedes noch so kleine feature als extra im konfigurator zu verkaufen und fett kohle dafür zu verlangen.

Every review of the ID range complains about the front/rear window switches. Personally I think this is a complete non issue for the vast majority of people. I really can't recall the last time I as driver (or front passenger) used the controls in the front to drop the windows in the rear? So the switches make sense, because almost all the time I'll be wanting to control the front windows.

Piano black has to be covered with paint protection film or any type of vinyl wrap, unless you are someone who does not care about a clean interior. The piano black shows fingerprints, dust and schmootz. It gets all scratched up just from trying to keep it clean.

If you want an EV all you need is Autogefühl to make a fair decision. That said: I really don't understand why people think higher topspeeds are important. Even if you live in Germany where people may drive faster on the Autobahn you will have to stop way more frequently and loose even more time charging than driving slower.

Although ioniq 5 and ld3 & id 4 have batteries from SK ionvation, ioniq 5 has the silicon carbide inverter and are very efficient, on 800v. id is shit when charging in winter with small and medium battery.

Great review as always. I really think they should just have offered this as an AWD upgrade, and the money they could have saved on developing and manufacturing extra styling parts they could have used on buttons. I feel their focus is a bit.. off. What is currently a deal breaker for me is the lack of having an available sound system upgrade, their base system is quite disappointing.

We have a dog and often lower or raise the windows in the back for her. That said, we have an ID3 and I've never found it too complicated to open the rear windows. So for me a non-issue too.

Wish that VW would use the SEAT and SKODA designs, they are so much nicer.. It used to be that VW had the better look, but like with GM the styling being created at Wolfsburg is lack luster, dull, and non inspiring compared to the sister brands. It happens automatically if it detects slipping, no reason to run the motor when it's not doing anything but adding power consumption.

There is a "traction" mode available in the driving mode menu, which I *believe* puts the car in full 4x4 traction, but I'm not certain.

it is fun to call something electric from VW with 300hp as a GTI, i get it, that it seems like a lot, but looking at the competition.. MACH-E, Tesla, Ionic 5, the new Kia EV6 where it is closer to 500hp and cheaper, it seems to be a bit "out of time"

This is because VW is too invested in making polluting ICE engines and doesn't want to sell its customers EVs. After diesel Gate who can buy a VW with a clear conscience? My father in law worked for VW for 20 years as an electrical engineer and said the cheat system was widely known about and through all major car manufacturers. They are little better than cigarette manufacturers.

Looking forward to seeing the AWD model in North American VW dealerships. VW must be serious about this vehicle, as it has been shipping plenty of Pro and Pro S RWD models to dealerships in most US states, not just California. VW is offering 3 years of free DC fast charging on the Electrify America network, which it is continuing to expand. Hopefully, the AWD model will be available with 19" wheels for a bit more ride comfort.

Look at the VW's site. AWD is the $3700 option to the Pro S. But then the car costs similar money as MY LR, so it is bad choice.

@@AndrewSienx In the US, I can get a $7500 Federal Tax Credit on the ID.4. Tesla has used up their credits. A MY LR costs $53K USD, I can get a fully loaded ID.4 for $40K USD (after the credit). A $13K difference is huge.

Perhaps you could add in taking the car to the mountains to see how it is ski country and how much the range decreases in addition to the snow performance. I'm beginning to consider an EV. My touchstone is at least 400km/250 miles of real world winter range in mountainous terrain to get from where I live to some of the better skiing in this region with, I would hope, some range cushion. Thank you for your reviews. They are among the best if not the best .... objective, touches of humor, and none of the drama and hysterics that plague some reviewers (one of whom is annoying to me that it motivated me to learn how to block the guy as a suggested view by KZbin). And of course there is the change of scenery from what you see in domestic reviews. I love it.

ID4 is a great looking EV, and I could only test drive the RWD base version. Very nice vehicle, but I could not get enough leg room and I am 6' tall. Also, the center "console" feels like junk. There should be a wide center arm rest instead of the hard plastic, skinny uncomfortable arm rests. This will be extremely popular in the USA but the non-Tesla charging situation is woeful.

What’s lock to lock with the steering wheel? Is it still 3.5 like the rwd model of did they tighten it up since the GTX is supposed to be sportier. The GTI is like 2.1.

He should research how only a percentage of regen happens by releasing the pedal. The majority of regen which is comparable to other evs happens when you first hit the brake pedal. Then if you need more brake, the brakes activate.

Ya, I am not a fan of the capacitive touch buttons everywhere. I don't understand why they would make 2 windows buttons with a capacitive touch button to switch from front to rear windows (3 buttons) to replace 4 buttons (one for each window). I'd much rather they took a more traditional approach with physical buttons. Something similar or based off the interior off of the Tiguan/Taos. I want physical volume and climate control that give be positive physical feedback without having to look at the buttons.

FYI, IONIQ 5 vs TESLA MODEL Y... : Tesla great job, max speed, range especially leveraging its shape and weight. Still prefer, being in Europe, comfort. 99% of my trips are within 200kms one way. With the Hyundai IONIQ 5, I do look forward to ventilated seats, Android Auto, the roomy and comfortable interior, and HUD. Also like reclining seats with foot rest and reclining console for arms rest, all electronic aids especially against collisions, automated parking (Executive version), blind spot cams on dashboard when turning, V2L, sun shades integrated in back doors, electric sunroof shade, wide space available inside with good visibility through the back window etc. Also 5 year car warranty illimited kms (Max 80 000 for Tesla... Reliability issues?), and 8 year battery warranty (same as Tesla). Details can be found on google. Here are some highlights from the conclusion they brought up at the end of the video. 1. Both car's AVG speed were about 100KM/h (Highway drive) 2. Both car's A/C and other convenience functions(like Highway drive assistance for Ionic 5, Auto Pilot for Model Y and etc.) were always on during the test. 3. 4 drivers drove about 100km per person and checked the remaining battery at designated location. 4. Both car have shown slightly poor battery performance than usual because of the weather condition (rain) 5. By just looking at the specification, Model Y can drive 141km more than Ionic 5. However the actual drive test have shown that the difference were only about 60~70km. This experiment have shown that IONIC 5's driving range is little longer than what Hyundai advertised. 6. They have concluded that both Ionic 5 and Model Y can drive from Seoul to Busan. The distance between those two cities are about 350km. Hope this helps.

Yes and Xc40 p8 is way better car, faster better quality overall! Vw nowadays has plastiky interior and look like a toy from Lego. Also you can spot the paintwork fron inside the car around the windows, which is very poor finishing for this price tag. Also xc40 P8 infotaiment is based and running on google androind with a superb voice comand.

Although ioniq 5 and ld3 & id 4 have batteries from SK ionvation, ioniq 5 has the silicon carbide inverter and are very efficient, on 800v. id is shit when charging in winter with small and medium battery.

@@autogefuehl of course it's entirely your decision, but I simply can't see why it is a big deal to carry a cheap Android phone capable of running the latest version of Android Auto in the same bag where you carry your multiple cameras, foldable ruler, etc. I'm sure you can buy used phones in Germany, or somebody can donate you their phone next time they buy a new one, in case you are opposed to the idea for environmental reasons. I'm sure most of your viewers subscribe to this channel, because of the lengthy in-depth reviews, so it is a bit of a shame that you ignore Android Auto users in some of your reviews, when you show so many other small details of the cars. Well, if BMW and Porsche have been doing it for a very long time, until very recently, I guess it's only fair that this channel, with a much lower budget, would do the same.
