Thank you man I've got 2 of these lined up from a used car dealer, was looking for a video to prep me for removing the dashboard. You are the MAN!! Props to VW for a serviceable design

Thanks a lot brother. Got my Jetta’s heat working again right before the cold snap we’re about to get in my area. Worth noting the process is identical for my 2014 Jetta TDI, though for the TDI you might want to consider disconnecting the negative battery terminal, as the diesels have an aux PTC heater nearby the heater core. VW engineers are interesting. Things that are simple on other cars, like changing a serpentine belt tensioner, are a nightmare on my TDI. Yet a heater core often takes 8 hours or more on some cars, but in the Jetta it takes an hour tops. The only thing that sucks is I’m too old to be in the awkward positions working under the dashboard requires.

Thanks for posting this. Does this apply to a 2010 Jetta Sportwagen? I got a quote, but they said I'd need to remove the entire dash to get to the heater core.
@Ah_Duuu_Ma14 күн бұрын
No need to remove the dash. They ripping you off.

@Ah_Duuu_Ma thanks. My friend and I figured that much out. Now we are just finding it impossible to install the pipes into the new heater core. Any suggestions?
@SuperDeano1000Ай бұрын
Thanks. Did you not clamp any coolant pipe? I'm going to do this tomorrow if possible. Maybe I don't need to clamp after all?
@Ah_Duuu_MaАй бұрын
@@SuperDeano1000 You can clamp the 2 heater hose outside from the firewall, it helps a bit.

Can I rinse it out? I wanna see if this can help, it’s so cold when I get out of work and I don’t wanna wait a week for the new part. None of my autozones have it in stock
@Ah_Duuu_Ma26 күн бұрын
Check oreily store. I got mine at oreily. Buy a new one put it in, rinsing out heater core is not going to work, because you getting the coolant out, not the gunks inside thats been clogged in there. Dont waste your times and doing it 2 3x. Not worth it.
@jaysrt2112 күн бұрын
@@Ah_Duuu_MaReplaced it and it’s blowing cold air still. I ended up returning the new one . Did the blow test and both sound similar. Not sure what else. Someone said fuses, but I only have 2 related to heat and they’re not blown or anything

@@jaysrt21 If still no heat and you did everything correctly. Check cabin air filter if you have one. Check hot and cold blend door motor to see if it operate correctly as you turn the hot and cold knob.

Did you have to remove coolant from engine
@santiagomontemayor4821 сағат бұрын
Not entirely but doing so leads to less spillage inside the car. Just protect the carpet accordingly.
@wilsonalonzo2454Ай бұрын
Did you flushed all the coolant before you took the hose out?
@Ah_Duuu_MaАй бұрын
No need to flush. Just the heater core coolant comes out.

The heat on my 2013 tiguan only works on the driver side. The passenger side blows cold air. Could that be the heater core that does that ?
