Thanks for the video. Followed this for installing my delete kit from Ecodiesel Owners Canada. Same process for everything on the removal. I didn’t cut the old dpf. Disconnected the axle and the wishbone. Placed a floor jack under the front of the transmission and pivoted the dpf out. Install the new exhaust has less attachment locations and the new mid pipe has to be cut to length on the Jetta. Happy turbo noises!

Awesome video man this helped me out a bunch when I was installing my eco kit , kept going back to this video as a reference, one thing I did different , instead of popping the axle out I added 3 1/2 inch drive extensions on my impact and took the lower dpf bracket off, made it a lot easier to pull it out after the bracket was removed , anyways thanks again 🙏

Great video! I did this job this last summer, on my 2012 Golf The instructions RawTek supply are great. The only thing I did differently than your video, which I think most people would not want to do, is unbolt the axle. If you remove the wishbone connector (can see it at about the 13 minute mark) between the engine and the transmission, then you can use a little jack to rock the engine forward a bit on its mounts. This creates just a bit more room for the DPF to slide right out. Keep up the good work!

@pzarelli75 Just a quick question about your delete. I have a 2012 golf as well and I’m looking at the eco kit and the stage 2 tune. Just curious if that’s the route you went and how everything ran after it was done

@@brianayer it was fairly easy. Just follow the instructions from Rawtek. I am handy, but no mechanic. It took me 2 sessions over 2 days. I went slow to make sure I wasn’t messing up. Taking the DPF out was not too bad. I had to use a small grinder to cut the bolt bracket off the DPF, but then I just jiggled and rotated until it came out maybe in 5 minutes! Pro Tip: cold beer waiting! The video I liked the best was some young Canadian kid working on it in his shop. I will try to find it. Do the delete work, then perform/have someone else perform the tune. If was to do it over, I would go full straight pipe. It is cheaper to do it the first time, rather than go back and just buy the final piece of tail pipe.

Shouldn’t be too hard to stuff that axle back up there, as far the sensor I believe it’s the orange connector that goes into the new downpipe.

There is an odor. Not generally an issue for the driver if routing through the stock muffler, but if the wind throws it in the cab it’s gonna smell like a diesel lol

I have VW passat TDI 2014, adblue heater problem starting to develop and I think I would rather just invest in complete delete kit. But one question. If you drive in a large city that has emissions check points at on ramps will they catch it? I live in an area that does not have that. Tx panhandle. But if I ever took a trip to DFW or Houston it might be an issue.

If I recall this is one of the weird ones where the instructions have you disconnect it yet it needs to be plugged back in later. I remember this because while doing this job we had a moment where we both were like “well then why did we even need to disconnect that?” You end up removing the other sensors entirely, so anything that is still there should be connected.

A lot of that is answered on Rawteks website. To summarize, the tuner & tune is an add-on to the delete kit. You’re paying for the tuner, and the tune services (it doesn’t come pre-loaded.) On their website they have a walkthrough of the tune process, but it’s as follows. 1. Connect tuner to your computer. Install the tuner software on your computer. It will then update the tuner. 2. Connect your tuner to your car. It will give you the option to download your cars stock tune file from the car, onto the tuner. 3. Plug tuner into computer. Download the stock tube file and send it in an email to the company. 4. Company will send you a modified tune, download that onto your tuner. 5. Plug tuner into your car and apply the modified tune.

You’re a big boy like me. How the heck did you get under this car? Do you have all four corners on ramps? I’m wondering about jacking up the rear and putting more ramps under the back. I just can’t reach the 02 sensor at all

Fronts on ramps and rear on stands! It was rough at some points. We ended up finding a used quickjack set which was nice for the “center work” but couldn’t be used when dealing with the passenger side under tray.

The ramps up front helped keep the car predictable when bringing up the back, otherwise it’s a pain to jack up corner at a time due to where the jack points are.

The tuner is an add on to your order, and it includes instructions. You download the stock tune, send it out for modification, and then receive the modified tune, which you install onto the car. You will need a PC to send and download the tune.

I think you have a fast route and a slow route. The fast route I would say give yourself a day, and be happy to finish in maybe 3-5 hours. This means cutting off a lot like we did. If you want to keep everything solid with no cutting, I would think 6-8 hours with the potential for more if things are stuck.

@ronniepine5894 double check the sensors that you end up plugging back in (on the back of the head.) The delete kit has you remove a bunch of sensors and disconnect quite a few of those orange/ brown plugs. At the end they either get fully discarded or reconnected. We had to double check we got it right

You can get it out without cutting it. You generally have to lower the front subframe to get enough room to do that though. Most of the reason we cut this one off was the general space limitations on the ground, mixed with the general impact of NY salt on everything we were working with.

I will say the kit is very pricey. Stage one tune and full strait pipe is $2,700 us dollars. But looking at just replacing the stock exhaust with new dpf system is roughly the same cost. Just a wee bit cheaper.

The EGR delete itself is just a block off plate on two studs. Throw some high temp on it.

@@theoegarage where do you put the block off plate? The pipe with the snakeskin looking stuff on it comes off right? Then do I block off wherever it goes to the back of the motor? I also have no idea what to do with this plethora of unused hoses and plugs now

@@theoegarage there's a pipe coming off the bottom of the turbo that would need to be blocked and then also off the manifold needs the same block off. The egr kit only includes 1 block off plate.

That’s kind of a tough one to answer without being able to show you. One goes in the back of the engine and one on the passenger side.

Oh that’s gotta be referring to the flap, in this case yes the electronic exhaust flap was removed.

Notice any slippage of the clutch yet? I think this is the perfect setup for my Jetta and the noise won’t piss off the wife when I make her drive it cause the Tahoe is too expensive to drive lol

No slippage on the clutch! They say stage II is good without a clutch upgrade. The car feels so much better to drive, it has the power in all gears and just feels RIGHT! The exhaust is barely noticeable minus some nice start turbo spool and low rpm spool sounds.

decent video but you skipped so much of the removal part. Im doing mine now, Rawteks instructions are terrible, They talk about some 13 mm bolt on the back of the engine I can’t seem to find it. Pictures are bad cant see half the crap they are talking about.

Ive got an 11 A3, 110k miles and the light came on and is staying on. It's a diesel-gate car, and just got out of warranty. So, time to straight pipe it, delete and a tune. Im a good mechanic, but I've beem dreading this, a little. But, this is easy, so thank you. Would you do the EGR delete kit aswell, when you do this, next time? Or, leave it alone... Im thinking of the downpipe, straight pipe, EGR delete and the stage 2 with DSG. Should I be pretty well set?

Thanks for the kind words! The Rawtek kit used does in fact delete the EGR, it’s a small portion of the video but we removed the system and installed the block off plate.
