This code is notorious on these engines & sometimes it's best to clear it or let it go away after a drive cycle. If it's a dirty throttle body or anything serious you'll get other codes with it. VW even made an updated Secondary Air Injection Pipe because this code was being triggered so much with the older style pipe & yet it still acts up. It also could be a faulty connection in the wiring harness that connects to the censor but I haven't experienced this yet. This code is just an emissions warning saying the barometric pressure that the ecm expects to see is off but the ecm then adjust the air/fuel mixture appropriately which then could cause a rich or lean code on another sensor but the sad thing is you can't stop it from coming back intermittently. I have a brand new valve cover (torq you spec), air intake sensors, map sensors, replaced a few diaphragms & even changed the throttle body & it still comes back eventually. This is why i'd suggest clearing the code if its alone & seeing if it comes back quickly & if there's a code associated with it focus on it. It could be a diaphragm or bad throttle body but its most likely nothing. hen you get a code your car will run through a drive cycle & the drive cycles vary on different cars. I think it's 60 miles for VW but I'm not sure but anyway if your sensors didn't get triggered the code will clear on its own & the cel light will disappear. Even if you change out a sensor & don't clear the code you still won't know if it was the FIX you performed or the fact it hadn't acted up in the drive cycle period & this is why if there's no other codes with the P0106 you should drive it through a drive cycle & see what happens or clear it & see. It's not a major issue on its own though. I think the issue here the engine is precisely tuned because of emissions standards because even with the code my Fuel Trim data is only +1% or lower which means the injection system is working great for an 11 year old engine. I would hate it if I knew nothing about cars & had to take my Jetta in every time this code pops up.

A "Fly by wire" TB has a built in, what TBI used to call an "Idle Switch". Because of that gunk, the plate couldn't close all the way, and the ECU sees this, so it sets a MIL, then it runs a "generic" fuel trim, enough to run, but no "performance".

It's become ingrained in techs heads that every fix will require parts need to be replaced. Nice fix

That's a fact. It's nice when the fix doesn't require expensive parts

Here is a tip for you good people dealing with this p0106 issue. Check your intake manifold bolts, they may be loose. A loose intake manifold can contribute to a code p0106. Upon doing this, clean the inside of the intake manifold, clean out your throttle body, clean out your hoses & check your intake manifold bolts. Throttle body - torx 30 Intake manifold bolts - either a 6mm hex or a torx 40 (6 inch or longer "Bit" works best to reach) Clean with throttle/intake cleaner For map sensor, clean with map sensor cleaner and let it dry for at least 15 minutes. Map Sensor cleaner can be bought at walmart/autozone/oreily Clear out your p0106 with an obII reader or disconnect & reconnect your battery. Good luck and hope it helps you.

Vw came out with a fix for this in 2014, a software update to fix a too sensitive MAP sensor programing issue.....

Why ac pipes are getting very hot when ac is on? Is this normal?
@pumok

I understand that the PCV valve only works by sending air flow in only one direction, I have already changed the membrane of my PCV and it has air flow in both directions, is it normal?

I don't have a definitive answer for you but I think pcv usually only allow airflow in one direction.
