If you lost your emergency key easy way to open Passat bonnet

Don't usually comment on things, but this was really helpful. Couldn't get into car and had left lights on. Followed instruction but couldn't find cylinder thing. Instead when I shone my torch in after getting the flap thing down and out the way I could see the bonnet latch wire so put the screwdriver behind that and pulled it down to open the bonnet. Worked a treat. Thanks for posting

No wire dropped down on my 2010 after removing the cover. I fished around for one and pushed and pulled on everything trying to get it to drop but no luck. I took a flat blade screw driver and pushed from drivers side to passenger side as hard as I could on the lowest hanging piece of metal in the large rectangular opening and the hood popped right open.

Thank you very much. You helped me a lot. I wasn't able to open a door using manual key because my handle got broke. For those who dont understant where the "pointy, metal thing" is and how to push it I explain. On the right side of the square hole there is a cylinder. It's not very far. You can easyly touch it with your index finger. Pointy thing is an edge on this cylinder. You have to push it to rotate a cylinder clockwise (exactelly oposite to the VW badge opening direction). You have to make it hard but not as hard as I expected after wathing this movie. You dont have to fight against a spring, a cylinder have just some resistance. Good luck everybody.

You need to rotate clockwise the bottom piece which is attached to an axis (this piece goes together with a large spring and the axis direction goes longitudinally with the car, front to back direction). Not sure this piece is metal, seems plastic in my 2009 Passat.

Ruth Reynolds try feel more towards you instead you’ll feel steel wire and use a screw driver or something and pull the wire down. It’ll open

hello, how you do it ? i did't see... i try 2 hours to open the bonnet before to see this video. afer u remove the cover. i did't see how, only with the fingers ??!. i have the key but i don't have battery power and the mecanic key did't work.

When you remove the flap cover push it down with your finger and then put your finger inside the flap when you point your finger on the left side you fill feel a metal latch you have to push it in with your finger it will take a bit of power and you will feel the stress on your finger that's the only way to open it otherwise you can some metal tool which will be like L shape it will be easy for you to open it

When you open the badge at the bottom of the latching system there is a flap just open the flap and with your index finger you can push the point latch on the left side and your bonnet will open
