Just did this right now on my 2013 CC R-Line. Great video! For the USA models use 14mm Triple Square for the caliper bracket bolts and 18mm Triple Square for the axle bearing bolt. Both 1/2 inch drives. The hardest part of the job is the lower bracket bolt. I used a swivel with the socket. I used a 25 inch breaker bar from Harbor Freight to remove the 18mm bearing bolt, pretty easy. When you pull off t he caliper bracket assembly, push the pads back in their slides with your hands as far as you can to ease in reassembly. Good luck and thanks again One Auto!!

I've got the estate version of this car and needed to replace the rear brake discs and pads. A really helpful video. Managed to get one wheel done before the sun started disappearing. The other side will have to wait until tomorrow. Hope those caliper retaining bolts (the M14 spline ones) are easier to loosen than the first lot! Wish I had a hoist!!

Thank You for this great video! Replaced my wheel bearing today. That bolt was really tight on mine but a 600mm breaker bar and additional 1000mm pipe did the trick. The bar bent a bit but i got it from Amazon for £20 so wasn't really surprised.

Thanks so much for this easy to follow video. I almost gave up twice. First time when I couldn't shift the main bolt even with a 4 foot extension to my breaker bar. 2nd time when I realized I needed new brake shoes. What a mission that was, never done brake shoes before either and with the electronic service brake this made it quite difficult. Anyway just wanna say how much I appreciated you taking the time to show this.

Looked like a nice enough wheel bearing to do. No wonder you had trouble with that bolt looked like it had red loctite on it! Not done much work on them electric handbrakes but they seem like a pain to work on! Might need to invest in an nice spline set I got a cheap set. Nice video.

great vid, just wished I could get my rear wheel off a some numpty tyre bay has windy gunned them on and I can only undo 2 the other 3 im going to have serious problems with as I have just taken half the head off the bolt leaving just the countersunk part of the bolt exposed I think my only option is to drill out with a 12mm drill bit.. problems eh if that doesn't work il probably try and cut the alloy off and get a new wheel (bit extreme )

You'd have thought 200Nm plus 180 degrees would be close to the yield strength of the bolt, ridiculously tight for the application.

Wheel removal tip. Before jacking the car up. Loosen all the wheel nuts on the stuck wheel (3 to 4 turns)rock the car by pushing the wing sideways and the weight of the car will loosen the stuck wheel. Hope this helps someone. Nice video .

replaced the bearing without removing the 2- M14 tri square bolts. I removed the 2- 6mm on back of caliper like one would to replace the pads and removed the piston carrier. This allowed enough play to remove the disc and bearing.

If you clean the mating surfaces of the rim and disc, then use a cake of bee's wax on them, the kind that hardware stores sell for dresser drawers, then you can avoid the difficulty of wheel removal, and prevent possible bearing damage. It doesn't splatter, like anti-seize compound will.

@one auto just for future reference, use some Chanel locks to grip both edges of the cap and it pulls straight off easy every time. Or get a skinny flat head, put it between the cap and hub and twist the screw driver, then a little on opposite side and it comes off much easier. Was painful watching you beat it off like that 😂🤦‍♂️

Great video 👍 I need to replace a rear bearing on a 2008 Leon, all looks fairly similar. The only thing that had me worried is that i don't have a torque wrench, but it looks like I'll get away with just getting it really tight! Any danger of over-tightening? (I should point out that I'm not one of the strongest lads about!) 😂

@OneAuto

Have a look at about 2'40 on the video, its speeded up so u will have to keep pausing it. I broke them free with a M14 about 2 inches long and a long 1/2" ratchet. I then swapped to a 12" 3/8" ratchet with a flexi head and a stubby M14 that I showed when the bolts came out. It is awkward to get in there. Hope this helps.

B.I.A.S Racing The bearing assembly is pre assembled and just slides straight onto the stub axle. There is not a separate washer on the bolt it is built into the bolt. There are 2 different types of bolts on some the underside of the built in washer is smooth and the other type it is knurled. They have different torque settings and a new bolt must be used every time.
