Great vid learnt a lot, I’ve got a problem with my abs & power steering amber light coming on sometimes but not often until today they came on same time whilst I was driving after about 15/20 mins of driving & I hadn’t drove the car since about 8/9 hrs before & that was only a small 20/30 min drive as I mainly drive to work & back same distance every day most times, also until today I don’t think my abs & ps amber lights have came on together & for as long as they did today. once I pulled over 5 mins later & let the car sit for 5/10 mins they went away but other times I’ve just re started my car & they went off or they disappear their self after 30 secs or less without a restart. I also got myself in a ditch couple weeks ago or so and my front right wheel was off the ground and I tried getting out but had no traction on that wheel so mate cos it was spinning faster than the rest due to less friction and cos it’s front wheel drive it’s confused a sensor of problems haha I’m just guessing it also causes my my radio to want it’s code sometimes when these lights come on and it’ll eventually come back on without a code eventually. Sorry to ramble haha I subscribed

Thanks and glad you found the video helpful. In the time since I recorded this I now know it imperative to check your battery is in good condition. Also, I have just had a polo with loss of P.S and It was simply the pump at fault(well actually it was the control unit that is built into the pump). Hope you get your car sorted

Hi mate just a thought ...if the steering develops problems that are really expensive, is it possible to change the steering rack back to pre hydrologic ? With the bigger steering wheel. .can this be done ?

Hi can you help I have mk6 golf when I turn my wheel left or right at low speeds and hearing a kind of ribbing noise no one can give me an answer, would this be steering rack?
@Dan-ru8cf5 жыл бұрын
Normally a noise when turning the steering is down to drive shafts. The noise you'll hear if it is is a knocking noise, not sure if that's what you meant by "ribbing".

I've got the same issue with mine at the moment, no light till I turn the engine on. Pump has fluid, was going to change it but now I'm not sure if I will tbh. Shame really as it only has 23k miles on it. Any advice?
@Dan-ru8cf6 жыл бұрын
Their fault was all down to a bad battery! make sure yours isn't discharging. you voltage may show 12v and your alternator still give 14v but your amps will be the weak point. your starter motor has a huge draw of amps when you start the car and if your battery is discharging then you will have nothing left after this to power all the electrical devices
@kdark546 жыл бұрын
I'll try changing the battery then! I've got a few I can try this with and see if the result changes! Do I have to reset the errors or will it automatically disappear?
@Dan-ru8cf6 жыл бұрын
you may have to yes, but. a 10 ob2 code reader will do that.

Hello, can you help me? I have a 2005 VW Golf MK5 1.9 TDI and a red steering wheel light comes on when I turn on the ignition. When I start the engine the red light stays on until I turn the steering wheel. There is no power steering for 2 seconds of turning the wheel then suddenly the light will change to yellow and the steering will be 100% fine (and the yellow steering wheel light will turn off after a very short drive) until I turn off the car and turn it on again. Do you have any ideas? I get the code 01309 Power Steering Control Module. Clearing it won’t make it stay gone.

PrinceOfFALLEN have you checked your battery condition, it seems to have a big effect on this if it's starting to discharge
@princeoffallen88165 жыл бұрын
Rebel Dan Thanks for your reply. It probably is my battery as it’s not great. I let it go flat multiple times for periods of time and it doesn’t hold its charge too well anymore.
@Dan-ru8cf5 жыл бұрын
PrinceOfFALLEN the way you described the problem points towards it as the warning light goes from red to yellow as soon as you start driving. This is more than likely because your alternator begins charging your battery when the engine is running and therefore supplies your steering with amperage. Hope this helps and let me know how you get on
@princeoffallen88165 жыл бұрын
Rebel Dan Will do. I’m getting a new battery. Thanks for your insight.
@princeoffallen88165 жыл бұрын
Rebel Dan The problem seems to have sorted itself out. Today the power steering completely went for 5 minutes then came back and it is all working fine now (no error lights!). It probably was the old battery that caused the problem, and it must have took a good few engine cycles to settle the computer down.
@sabriabrahams62065 жыл бұрын
hi how you doing? did this solve your problem as im currently dealing with the same issue
@Dan-ru8cf5 жыл бұрын
Hi there, this problem was simply down to a dead battery. Volts were 12v but amperage droped as soon as you turned the key. After replacing it the steering returned to normal.
@princeoffallen88165 жыл бұрын
