I have bought a golf 2012 1.4tsi and have done the timing chain but the only issue I’m confused about is that is that waterpump belt meant to spin when the engine is idling or is it just meant to move when the rpms are over 1500

I couldn't get the cover on the supercharger free and didn't want to break it. My solution was to put a luggage strap around the tensioner pulley secure it to the R driveshaft and tied it off on the lower suspension arm. Then I used a wedge to push the cover over to make room. put the new belt onto the supercharger pulley and over the coolant pump inner pulley. used a pin punch to align the pump to the block, put two fasteners finger tight to position the pump to the block. then secured all three and finally removed the luggage strap. I hope this helps others.

Was that to leave the supercharger cover in place? I am soon to be doing timing chain, but think water pump has to come off to get to the bolts holding the timing cover?

@@bullit2525 I just removed it with all the sound foam, now makes quite loud supercharging whine 🤌

@@bullit2525 there are two clips on the top and the same on the bottom of the supercharger cover. On mine, they were difficult to access and I feared they would snap if I forced them. You will have to remove the two belts on the water pump to remove the timing cover. You may be forced to remove the pump as access is small to non-existent. I removed mine.

You are missing one crucial step which is the magnetic clutch adaption process (can be done from VCDS). If not done there is a serious risk that the magnetic clutch will start slipping. This very quickly result in so much wear that you would have to replace the water pump again

I try to find the function but my scan tool say it's not supported. What scan tool are you using?

​@@charlielim6799 Mine was done using VCDS scan tool. The option is in the Basic Settings menu. It needs to be an original VCDS. Otherwise this option will be missing in most cases. I ended up having a garage with experience in this WV water pump replacement do it for me. I temporarily removed the fuse to the water pump magnetic clutch so I could drive to the garage. This was to prevent any clutch slipping before the magnetic clutch adaption was done. After the fuse is installed again at the garage they had to first clear the fault code and then do the magnetic clutch adaption
