How to release the pressure inside the pressure accumulator if an attempt to replace is made while the gearbox is still attached on the car? Is draining the oil and disconnecting the battery enough to safely open the gearbox oil pan and unscrew the pressure accumulator?

For all we know its like you cut the camera, let another mechanic in a shop or someone at home come do it for you then turn the camera back on and say “hey its done”. Hey you done a clean job. I made a huge mess with oil and ATF. Also rolled over the engine I removed the transmission and flipping the engine.

Sorry, one question. I watched a German guy replacing the timing chain on a TSI 1.4. He also replaced the smaller chain and the sprockets underneath the "big chain" that you replaced. If you go to 16:04 in the video I posted, you'll see what I'm talking about: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nKGsmmdqqph0Z7M. At 17:04, he shows how worn the sprockets were. I’m curious if both chains are replaced and why? I mean, if everything is being taken apart, it seems like a shame not to replace both. Reply

A very useful video! 2 questions (on N57): 1. I can see how mechanical stiction can cause the valve to remain open, but is this fault detectable via Ista? 2. Will this stiction effect be influenced by temperature of the valve? My BMW dealership is not detecting any error codes, but I am convinced the EGR valve has been failing to close fully, for ages. A thoroughly gummed up intake manifold is the result. I would guess that they only test for error codes in the workshop, where exhaust system temperatures will be lower than they are at operating speeds on the motorway. My car has a full, comprehensive BMW warranty, which should cover "wear and tear" but the dealer is refusing to put in a claim.

Great informative video. UNFORTUNATELY, cleaning throttle body, the pipe, also rotating the flange thing hasn't worked! I'VE STILL GOT AN IRRATIC BOUNCING IDLE. Fuel and air filter already changed. ANY SUGGESTIONS GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Once the PCV Fails, it indicates that’s time for a new Valve Cover. since the PCV itself can not be replaced due to the fact that it is built into the Valve cover. It’s a common issue on E9X Chassis’s.

if you have a problem like this, don't change it right away. all I did was make a small hole and I sprayed break cleaner and there was too much oil and it was too black. I did it 10 times until it was clear what came out, then I used a hair blower to dry the inside of the hole and then I applied heat resistant glue paste to the hole. The flap now works and I have had no problems. it is so expensive here in germany it costs 700 euros.

This is possibly the most thorough and helpful car maintenance clip I have ever watched. The detail on the clips working was so good that I got all the bits off with confidence in no time. For The pulling tool was I found an old metal curtain pole arm that fitted perfectly…a bit of wiggling and out they popped. The only improve could be that when you insert the new spark plug first rotate it anti-clockwise and when you feel it drop you can then turn clockwise and tightened with confidence of no cross threading..thanks again

Bought new 2014 B7 Passat with 1.8 EA888 with asin tiptronic. 168,413 miles. Replaced PVC and use BG EPR, MOA, and 44K. Drive from NJ to PA cruise set to 57mph, sunroof and both front windows open 41.mpg. 96 miles in cruise set to 57 isnt typical driving, but outstanding performance still. Oh 5-6K oil change intervals using Castrol 5W-40 Euroblend a/3 b/4. Still ZERO SQUEAKSor rattles. In my 67 years, best most reliable car Ive owned including my 2011 German made GTI. Luck, maybe but intelligent maintenance pays dividends

Comparing 00:20 and 03:56, you can clearly see the new pump has a hole in it, while the old one hasn't. The shiny thing visible through that hole is the pump shaft. What the hell? A hole through the top that gives dust and whatever direct access to the shaft? I'm somewhat skeptical of "cars being designed to break these days", but in this specific case - really, what the hell? What good could this hole do?

I got a 1st gen v6 3.0. code bmk. Do you know it it has that escape port on the cyl head? Good video, I've spotted a injector deviation on cyl 3 and 4 (-2mg). Might go for a injector reseal too.
