It's the worst one I've seen so far. New water pump, belt, and camshaft oil seal. And of course, as you mentioned, a very thorough cleaning!

Thanks for sharing this, I saw one on a Mercedes and it looked a lot easier to access. Do you have any information on A3 timing chain issues? I had a new engine at 19k miles due to timing chain, then a new timing chain at 39k miles, and now at another 20k miles at 62k I'm starting to hear the dreaded rattle again! It seems crazy that at 60k miles I could've had the timing chain replaced 3 times!!

Funny... I looked at a 2015 Touareg 3.0L TDI today that also had (according to the customer) a seized engine. In my case, the alternator was seized, preventing the engine from turning over. Will your customer go ahead with further repairs or a used engine?

The engine is completely ruined inside. Multiple bent connecting rods, and one of them snapped and jammed between the crank and the block. Carnage.

How much does it cost for a complete strip down and rebuild (inc new rings, valve guides etc) for an old n57 deisel engine? my f10 525d has hit 230k miles but its a good car. Iv'e seen inside the throttle body etc and it's thick with crap like your other videos too.

My 2009 Golf variant CAVD engine died. We found 2 cracked pistons and stuck rings. I have decided against rebuilding it and I want to buy a used CTHD engine which was an upgrade on the troublesome CAVD. I honestly think the VWs are not built to be reliable though given the reliability issues in my experience

Thanks a Million for this video!!!! The blown fuse was the problem with my 2013 X5 also. I have the LHD one too so just like you said the junction box was rotated 180 degrees so the 10A fuse was all the way in the back left corner and I could BARELY see or reach. Other then that, as soon as I replaced the blown fuse the doors locked and unlocked no problem afterwards!

How to release the pressure inside the pressure accumulator if an attempt to replace is made while the gearbox is still attached on the car? Is draining the oil and disconnecting the battery enough to safely open the gearbox oil pan and unscrew the pressure accumulator?

Sorry, one question. I watched a German guy replacing the timing chain on a TSI 1.4. He also replaced the smaller chain and the sprockets underneath the "big chain" that you replaced. If you go to 16:04 in the video I posted, you'll see what I'm talking about: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nKGsmmdqqph0Z7M. At 17:04, he shows how worn the sprockets were. I’m curious if both chains are replaced and why? I mean, if everything is being taken apart, it seems like a shame not to replace both. Reply

A very useful video! 2 questions (on N57): 1. I can see how mechanical stiction can cause the valve to remain open, but is this fault detectable via Ista? 2. Will this stiction effect be influenced by temperature of the valve? My BMW dealership is not detecting any error codes, but I am convinced the EGR valve has been failing to close fully, for ages. A thoroughly gummed up intake manifold is the result. I would guess that they only test for error codes in the workshop, where exhaust system temperatures will be lower than they are at operating speeds on the motorway. My car has a full, comprehensive BMW warranty, which should cover "wear and tear" but the dealer is refusing to put in a claim.

Once the PCV Fails, it indicates that’s time for a new Valve Cover. since the PCV itself can not be replaced due to the fact that it is built into the Valve cover. It’s a common issue on E9X Chassis’s.

if you have a problem like this, don't change it right away. all I did was make a small hole and I sprayed break cleaner and there was too much oil and it was too black. I did it 10 times until it was clear what came out, then I used a hair blower to dry the inside of the hole and then I applied heat resistant glue paste to the hole. The flap now works and I have had no problems. it is so expensive here in germany it costs 700 euros.

This is possibly the most thorough and helpful car maintenance clip I have ever watched. The detail on the clips working was so good that I got all the bits off with confidence in no time. For The pulling tool was I found an old metal curtain pole arm that fitted perfectly…a bit of wiggling and out they popped. The only improve could be that when you insert the new spark plug first rotate it anti-clockwise and when you feel it drop you can then turn clockwise and tightened with confidence of no cross threading..thanks again
