VW Sharan 7N - How to replace headlights (clusters - whole units)

This video shows how easy it is to replace headlights (clusters - whole units) on Volkswagen Sharan Mk2 (second generation 7N model).

Thanks so much for posting this. My car and a pheasant had an fight and the pheasant lost (which as a vegetarian was really sad for me) and the car’s headlight was smashed. I was told it was a main dealer supply and fix at around £300 ish. But I sourced the headlight from Eurocarparts and following your directions, refitted it myself. Thanks for your clear instructions, both on the video and as a PDF download. Also, the tool list helped me order the torx set I needed. Keep up the great work. Awesome!!!!

I have a 2013 Volkswagen Passat in the US but the headlight unit on this Sharan MK2 appears to be nearly identical , this is the best youtube video I have found showing and explaining how to replace the entire headlight unit , not just bulbs ... this was easy except for the grill removal ... it took almost as much time to remove the grill as to remove and replace the headlight unit .. my fingers are rather short and fat which made it even more difficult and I didn't really want to spend money on a tool I will likely never use again ... thank you for explaining as you went along ...

Top tip - draw round the bolts with a silver Sharpie. Will then go back in the exact same place. This will make sure alignment of the headlights. Not sure about the Mercedes puller tools as it's always best to use plastic tools on plastic.

Thanks, my manual says that you have to remove bumper. Then it's 4 bolts and plug.

Hi Peter! I will need to remove a bumper. I don't have that video yet for the front bumper. First, you'll need to remove radiator grill (I have a video about it): kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKLGpYikmNisp6s Then if I'm not mistaken there should be screws under the grill, then some T25's underneath and in wheel arches. I don't have a fog light, so can't make a video. I can try to explain what my manual says. You have to unclip and remove plastic cover from outside, it will reveal bolt/screw, undo it and take light out, disconnect connector and unscrew bulb housing. Hope it helps.

Hello, i have not exactly the same car, but like you said in your other videos its twin alhambra mk2. But maibe you still may know, cause in this case of removing front headlight unit car bumper design slighty diffrent, than sharans.But just in case question is does there is posible to remove headlight unit without removing front bumber for seat alhambra too. Cause front bumber disign differs, and front main grill is inside the bumper, but not on top like in sharan. But maybe after removing front grill, with gentle bend of bumper, will i be able to access these 2 bolts in complicated place, in my case? I know how it sounds, but just in case you may know, comparing your mechanic knowlege are really great, comparing to mines. And sorry for my bad english.
