In the oilfield in dry sandy conditions I have used a dry side lubricant that does not attract dust or dirt. This sprays on wet and dries hard. I have used this method for years. Good memories with your buggy.

There's always things to change as you use the car. I don't want to get bogged down with a lot of little details. To keep my motivation up I just keep moving forward. I was thinking of shortening the pedal arms but not until I get the permanent floor in.

Hi Greg, another great video. A quick question I am sure you can answer. Are the internals of a swing axle gearbox the same as an IRS? Struggling to find information on this. Thanks Graham

The stock swing axle tranny had key'd 4 the gears and a nut on the end of the shaft. When the IRS transmissions showed up around 1969 they changed over to splined fourth gear and used a snap ring on the end of both shafts. Many drag racers preferred the keyed swing axle transmission's for strength, lite weight and of course the beefy differential. 4:12 RP was the strongest which started in the 1966 model sedan

Can you give me an idea how much vw cases are worth, I kno a guy that has in my estimation about 25 of them

It really depends on the condition of the case. If there are old and stored outside, single relief, dual relief, 8mm or 10mm head bolts maybe inserts.. blah blah blah. I wouldn't waste my time unless the engine is complete
