My VW came with a single EMPI HPMX equipped with a 009 distributor. Always wondered why the vacuum ports on these things are never used. Guess I have a carb for sale then.

@TheEZGZ
@TheEZGZ 19 күн бұрын
Why do think the coil is to hot? They are usually too hot to hold. Have you changed anything. Folks will often say: Check your ground. I say better order a spare and keep it handy. I bought a EMPI alternator and it puts out 16 volts. Not good for pointless ignition.

I was curious as to if you still had the SPG flywheel, i have a SPG stroker crank that i want to build. I was wondering if you still had it, would you sell it and if so, how much? I will be putting it in front of a 3 rib bus trans axle. And all of that in my sand rail. Any ways, thank you for all the info you put out to all of us....

I was soooo hoping you would mention what method you used to screw in the replacement studs. If you don't mind sharing I'd much appreciate it. Obviously just hand tight is not adequate. A couple of questions: 1) what tool/method did you use to screw them in? 2) Did you torque them? 3) Did you use a bit of loctite?

Actually, Desert racing is getting away from swing axles. IRS tracks straighter, more travel, and parts are easier to come by. Nobody runs a swinger in a class 11 these days. Even the class 9 guys are starting to change the rules.

Ezgz I'm building a 1968cc type 1 with parts from my 1835cc engine. It has 041 heads stock rockers stock cam. Can you tell me what cam would make a 1968cc happy. Also what's your thoughts on a lighted flywheel the car is going to be used for the street. Do you have any recommendations for me. Thank you.

Everyone has a different opinion and even mine has changed over the years. Lately I’ve been real pleased with a mild cam like a Engel 100 or Scat C25 for an all around camshaft. Most new lightened flywheel come with 8 dowels. Be sure and get the chrome moly and not the cheap cast flywheels. Don’t forget that o-ring seal inside the flywheel.

We all got JCWhitney izd! I had it all too! Sand rails, bugs, square backs, in the '70s. Great times! Now, I'm older, I have a fully restored '64 sunroof bug. Fully stock and a sweet stock 40hp. I don't have to worry about overheating, or really anything. I run only 91 test, and VR1 high zinc, straight 30wt. This car is what my 1st car was. Reliable, unique, and most of all fun!!! Great info on the relief systems. Thank you!
