VW T1 "Splitty" Campervans | What they're REALLY like to live with

The #vwt1 is the Daddy of them all. The original #vwcamper. It's arguably the cutest and most sought-after of classic Volkswagen campervans - and as a result, often the most expensive. But what's the reality of living with and maintaining these ageing beauties? In this video, two experienced owners of #VolkswagenT1 splitscreens share top tips. Steve Ward owned six splitties until he could get his hands on his dream - a rare, 1960 SO23, originally converetd by Westfalia. Oliver Dix has been hooked on classic campers ever since he hired a Bay Window for a week in the New Forest. He's now owned his stunning red and white 1967 T1 for more than thirteen years, and uses it regularly for holidays, weekends away and weekly meetups with friends. The two owners share tips on buying a volkswagen T1 transporter. There's advice on keeping on top of problems with bodywork. Rust is part of life with these old buses, especially if they've not spent most of their lives in damp climates. Plus, there's advice on maintaining their simple yet quite demanding air-cooled engines.
