Awsome. I am taking notes. I just had my "free" brazilian made 1990 combi bus delivered yesterday. Actually it was better than free, as it was abandoned in a container of a client that died, and the estate paid me to take it along with a 2002 Toyota Hilux (long story). I still have not had a chance to go through it in detail, but mechanically it runs and appears to be all there. It has a horrendously bad paint job, that is so bad it is falling off on its own. I think I would like to restore it to the orginal yellow. Few small rust spots. Few bad bondo patches in some corners. frame and structure is solid. Never looked closely at a VW in my life, and took me about 5 minutes to figure everything out. I find the simplicity of the VW is the beauty, and I am rapidly falling in love with this one, even though I do not consider myself a VW person.

Nope, learning to weld has been on my to do list for years. I use to work in a body shop as a teenager, so I know that part of the skill set. Just never learned to weld. Going to buy a mig welder now. I need a project to justify it to my wife. 😆

I have already figured out the financing of the restoration. I have a 13 year-old nephew, lives next door, chomping at the bit to do a project with his uncle. He is my ticket to an unlimited restoration budget from my wife. I have no kids, so he will inherit it anyway. 😆 😆 🤣
