We are cracking on with the T5 transporter build series and today I’m playing with the seats, I really like the touran seats including the rear ones but can I make them fit? Let’s find out #t5transporter #t5 #dtetv

People won’t appreciate how much hard work has gone into all that metal fabrication and the finishing process , really looks factory . The heave gauge box section was definitely the way to go and from a welder/fabricator you’ve done a lovely job 👏👏👏
@YTDTETV9 ай бұрын
Thanks Neal I did spend a while doing it, the hard part was cutting all the pieces sqaure with just a grinder, I managed to make the box square but it took longer. Really appreciate that mate 🙏👍

Mint mate , love it, far better than factory👌👌👌 . By the way buy a tow eye ext peice as the std tow eye wont fit due to front sportline front face lift. .....ask me how i know lol 🙈🙈🙈
@YTDTETV9 ай бұрын
Hey Brian thank you mate 🙏 oh man really 🙈 I actually put the tow hook in the van yesterday and i actually thought I wonder if it will fit, well I know now thank you 😂👍👍

Loving the effort going into this build Nathan, I fitted Range Rover Evoque seats in mine and didn’t allow for the driver side offset, luckily I welded 5mm plate onto the swivel base that bolted directly to the seat base, I just worked out where the driver seat needed to be and welded new plates to the other swivel base. I then fitted the first swivel to the passenger base, don’t really notice that it’s different as there’s no central reference point in front on the dash and the gap is only 10mm out on the b pillar. Great effort building a bomb proof base for the kids but don’t forget to reinforce the floor underneath with extra steel to spread the weight, VW use mounting brackets underneath, the part number is 7H0802763A so that you get the idea of the shape of it. When you take the floor out you may find that the position that you need to drill is somewhere near the locations marked on the floor for the factory seat brackets
@YTDTETV9 ай бұрын
Hey bud I bet yours are nice 👍 I will take a look at the floor when I strip it out after Xmas I did use some thick plates under my nuts for extra strength but will defo look at it again. Thanks for the part number I’ll look now 👍👍

Nice job that Nathan, what I've done with box section before is drill big enough hole to weld a piece of x sized tube through the box pending bolt size used, and you can bolt through the middle of that, without crushing your box section and it's strong 💪 👌👍
@YTDTETV9 ай бұрын
Hey Chris that is a very good idea 👍👍 I’ve seen so many box sections crushed buy having a bolt through them but that’s easy to do and will never crush thanks mate I still have room to do that 👍👍
@chrismason34649 ай бұрын
@YTDTETV thanks Nathan 😊 we've used it on race cars we've built for years, I can warrant it's tried and tested 😀 👌 and will certainly with stand any knock, if the unfortunate occurs....

Glad the tailgate is underway 👍 and being reused. Haha oh man don’t tell the mrs you saw and idea in my videos 🙈. Your always welcome to pop in mate, even a bluewater caddy meet as that should shave an hour each way off your distance. Have a great weekend mate, ps I bought some of that insulation from B&Q 👍 I give you a shoutout in the next video.

Rola Cola, OMG that takes me back :D, it was disgusting, more like cough medicine :P. Mate, your skills are becoming more and more obvious, The seat base is a work of art, I have a diesel heater on my van. I also dropped the tank to fit the fuel line and drilled the extra hole. I have a Lavaner Pro 4kw, coupled with an Afterburner controller (Ray Jones in Australia makes them as a hobby) I will deffo bear the Touran front seats in mind should we ever decided to go the two seat option. Our double folds flat, but you can also get a bracket from Vankraft (or make one yourself) that gives the double seat a little bit of extra tilt back, not adjustable though. All in all, good work.
@YTDTETV9 ай бұрын
Hey bud haha the cola of choice back in the day 😂👍, diesel heater will be very soon 👍 I like the sound of the afterburner controller and more info on that? My mate had T5 seats that folded flat actually maybe a similar setup. Thanks for the comment mate 👍

Hey Nath, I was fancying doing the Caddy life bench seats in our Caddy. Wanted an easy clip in and out affair. I also liked that fact it keeps the full floor space. After watching your seat install in the Caddy I think the Touran seats are the way to go. You don’t actually lose that much floor space and seems like less hassle to do a DIY install. Also man logic, it’s an excuse for me to buy a MIG welder again 😂 Tidy install in the Transporter though. Look mint as always mate.

Looking good, Nath! Quick win for the floor, I've used the rubber interlocking matting from halfords, 2 packs for 20 quid was enough to do my custom. I've made mine a day van similar to yours, but I still use it for work. The mats are easy to replace and make it a bit nicer for the kids in the back.
