2018 Tiguan with 75k miles on it or 120,000 Kilometres, and it has been great so far. I’ve only had to do new breaks all around, new front cv boot and bushings, regular oil changes and maintenance!

I've had my North American Rline for 3 years now. I live by gravel roads with harsh winters where the snow can be deep outside a city. This Tiguan has been amazing for handling offroad use and highway travel.

Im on my 3rd tiguan i drive the 2020 1,4tsi version so far at 45k km i have face recently my air con unit has a pipe that dislodged leading to a water leak into my interior took a week to disassemble the car and reassemble it , airbag sensors died during this time as well, wobbly gear knob connector issue so i couldn't engage gears properly. Everything is sorted recently did a DSG tune as well as a stage 1 tune, car runs like a dream now wouldn't have it any other way. The water leakage hasn't hit me yet :) All these issues i feel are wear and tear i used to have a toyota rav and honda type r both brands have their own issues as well. I love my VW wouldn't have it any other way. I have a 5yr warranty so im happy with what i got.

I have mine 2020 model got it brand new from the dealer. On my second year I got the ECP alarm, SC replaced the flywheel and now im on my 2nd week waiting for the front row wet flooring issue to be fixed, sc said they have ordered the spair part and have to wait another 10 days more, luckily its still under warranty until August 2925. My big worry now is will those major issues wont come back after the warranty, 😢.

I own a 2018 Tiquan SE AWD with turbo and love it! 2 minor problems replaced/ fixed under warranty- 95,000 km. Interior suites my aesthetic- german simplicity- and great acceleration when needed on our crazy highways( Canada). Previously owned VW rabbit- loved that too but hated dealership servicing at that time! Again great to drive! Like a truck in snow with extra wide radials- no snow tires needed!

We have a 2014 Tig TDI 140 bhp manual 6 speed bought new and now at 120k kilometres. So far so good, only regular servicing. The OEM tyres were Bridgestone, hard as a rock so swiftly changed for 4 season Vredesteins which are excellent, now on 2nd set. Car regularly returns over 18km per litre so about 50 mpg and is a delight to drive. It has park assist (used about 3 times) and I fitted cruise control otherwise totally standard. Great car.

In 2018 bought a Brand new Tiguan Allspace Rline 6 months after we got it had water pouring in at the rear seatbelt turns out to be a pano drain issue. A year later same thing happened seatbelt all mouldy carpet all mouldy had to fight to get VW to eventually buy the car back from us. Not the well made brand from years ago.

Our 2020 tiguan Rline, let me just start off by say the r line offered in the United States and what I’ve seen what you boys and girls received in the uk eu market don’t even compare! They gave us a sad looking tiny little display on the cluster and it uses basically manual style tachometers, so we got skimped is what I’m saying lol. But back to the main area of focus, so this is what our ownership has looked like so far. We got the car brand new and the car gets driven mostly by my brother and parents, neither of them push the car so I can only imagine what the breaks downs would have equated to if it were me driving the car constantly showing it no mercy haha. The only time I’m driving this tiguan is when it’s dropped off to me for repairs and maintenance. Like it is currently as I type this. I can recall this car in our first weeks of ownership the car threw up a warning light on the dashboard complaining that it’s thirsty? I’m like what the heck here we go now!! It was about less than 3900 miles showing on the clock and I still hadn’t performed its first oil change, and the car was saying it’s low on engine oil. I was not happy with that message. Why should a family who buys a grocery getter car thats used to drive to work and back calmly obeying the speed limits be required to constantly top off a new car with an engine that consumes oil???? What kind of 💩 is this vw? What did you guys make ? Besides for needing to feed the car 1 to 2 liters of oil now between every oil change at roughly every 5k miles the car has been giving me some electrical issues. I recently replaced the battery which went bad a week after warranty expired fml. Caused the car to enter limp mode lost all power and would misfire. I think it was an efb battery from the factory but I put an agm now it seems to be alright. Had to do the rear pads last year and just a month ago did the first pad slap on the fronts. Clearly the rears are biased too much or they were designed underbraked. Never seen a car eat the rears up quicker than the fronts until now so this is a first for me. And now it’s with me for the rattling sound that began coming from the driver door when the glass was rolled down some. It appears like I caught it just in time before it began an actual problem. The bottom window regulator nut has vibrates itself loose. I’ll be using blue thread locker on it here shortly and tossing the door panel back together which was also a pain to remove, every clip broke taking it off my lord 😅 I can not recommend any friends to buy this car or any vw for that matter based upon what I’ve seen here. Personally the only vw that I would buy is the golf R, everything else I would say stay far away from and get yourself a nice Honda or Toyota lol

I have a mk5 golf 2.0tdi, 178k miles, no engine issues, no gearbox issues, no cooling or emission issues.. New VW cars seem to have all these issues. Sometimes I do wonder if things are going backwards, and if new cars are designed to fail before 100k miles, so we are encouraged to buy electric. Btw you missed telling the nice folks at home about the waterpump driven by the cambelt, but has a shroud that goes around the pump fins electronically, to stop flow and meant to speed up getting upto temp, well the shroud gets seized and then you have no/limited flow and cooling of the engine.. you can buy replacement waterpumps without the shroud and I strongly advise it.. So many bs things added to new cars that aren't really needed and only cause issues down the line, plus more expense.

I own a 2021 r-line 4 motion and have a love hate with the car. Thankfully had warranty for a month long tech case for the engine/infotainment system. Didn’t pay a dime and aside from basic maintenance has been a great car. Handles like a dream on road and off. Great room for a mid sized SUV and the interior is beautiful. My only gripes are the terrible speaker housing and the lack of engine options from the dealer. The Tiguan R not being sold in the states is a wasted opportunity

We have the 2020 r line. Not sure if they got the same engines ? But mine burns atleast a quart of oil between oil changes. I noticed it was low before I ever did the first oil change at around 3900miles which left me with an unhappy face to say the least. Have you come across this oil consumption issue ? Currently traced a window rattling noise to being the window regulator unbolting itself!

I wouldn't touch it personally at that cost. You can get a better car for much cheaper. My car is an 18 plate and has had endless problems. New timing belt at 4.5 year old as was ticking. Just been recovered to VW as the clutch pedal sticking - needs new transmission and clutch is now fecked because of it. Or if you do buy it put a warranty on it. You'll need it

Another common problem not just Tiguan's or VW for that matter is Direct Injection which because gas doesn't go through the intake ports any more like with older Port Injection the intake valves (and Intake Ports) get carbon deposits that build-up which has many bad side effects hard starting, less power, and poor fuel milage. Expect to pay dearly to have ports and the back of valves cleaned around every 50kmi...

I had a 1.4 jetta for 4 years and 140,000km. It would burn enough oil to be low after 10,000km without a change, a quart to top up would get me to the 15,000km service interval, the oil still looked good at both those times. It would never burn oil in the cold, only during the hottest months of summer is when I encountered it ever being low.

MY 2016 Tiguan is having intermittent electronic power steering failure. When I drive it and the vehicle is cold it will work without a problem. However, if I park and turn the engine off and on again, I get the red steering icon on the dash and the electronic power steering no longer works. I have to leave the vehicle parked for hours before it's drivable with power steering again. The dealership was no help and they wanted to change 12k in parts without a guarantee that it would correct the problem. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The cost to repair these vehicles is prohibitive and expensive should you have even a water pump/transmission oil issue. As to the aforementioned specifics, when such coolant system issues arise in a vehicle with over 1250,000 miles the dealership will repair but the cost is so absurd, should you decide to trade in, that the dealership will trash the whole engine drastically reducing it's trade in value. Stay away from these engines and their Audi counterparts.

I had a new 2017 Tiguan R line 140 diesel high line. At 100.000 kms took it for the timing belt change, then got it home and it failed, would run for 20 seconds and then stall. Car was always serviced at VW. Car is un drivable and now in dispute with VW…… DON’T BUY THESE CARS!!!!!!

What was the outcome ? Sorry to hear that sucks big time. People have a false perception of the dealer does some magic that independent repair shops can’t do! Or that you’ll get scammed else where. But in reality the stealership is the ones doing the worst quality of work because the employees don’t get paid well but a independent shop with a good reputation will always give you a better price quote than the dealer will and they have a lot more to loose when it comes to customer service complaints and bad Google and Yelp reviews being said about their business, so they try to go above and beyond to keep food on the table and the doors open! Find a reputable mechanic shop and use common sense and start taking your cars somewhere else trust me you’ll be better off that way

Open Road VW Manhattan flat out refused to honor the sunroof warranty on my 2019 Alltrack. Leaky car! This is going to court. They're an unbelievably shoddy VW dealer. P.S. I would not buy a VW with a sunroof, as this problem has been known to happen with the Tiguan as well.

I own a 2017 Tiguan. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER ONE! Nothing but problems after problems. I keep my maintenance up to date and it still has issues. It is in my garage now with a water pump, thermostat and oil leak. I have paid for this car over the years, and all it does is suck all your money up! I had the car note on top of all the EXPENSIVE repairs!!! LEMON 🍋 🍋🍋
