For anyone who thinks original VW gear fluid is too ridiculously expensive from the dealer, you can easily substitute and use excellent new Red line MT-LV gear oil at quarter of the price with the same results. That oil is 70W/75W GL-4 and is basically the same as VW/Audi G 052 512 A2, G 052 527 A2, G 052 515 A2, G 060 726 A2, G 070 726 A2. You are welcome.

@oleg k oddly enough that is the one fluid I didn't mess with. In retrospect I would have used an alternative solution now. My audi/vw game and knowledge was very fresh then. Also the clown at the dealer counter was fear mongering me. When i was buying gaskets.

I have my 2014 Cayenne Diesel level on ramps but only got around 600 mL to drain, can you comment on that?

Yeah it isn’t much fluid. As long as when you fill it and begins dripping out of the fill plug it’s full. I’m pretty sure I remember experiencing the same thing

You have some great videos, how often should the trasnfer case fluid be replaced? I have not seen this written in the service plan.
@MyHomeGarage3 жыл бұрын
I would replace the transfer case fluid every 5 years or 50,000kms. There is no harm and only benefits. Fluids break down and metal wears so flushing out the old fluid and any contaminants is a great thing. 15 years at Honda we used to do diff service 15,000 kms then every 30,000kms. The only day I saw a sealed diff on a newer bmw. Lol. They want the vehicle to fail they want to show look no maintaince. Oil change every year or 2 lol. No wonder they have turbo, oil issues, seals break down. Those 5 free years of service destory those motors.

@@MyHomeGarage I really appreciate your quick answer. You should add the specifications of the fluid, od PN, volume, what kind of plug you used etc. and where to get them. Otherwise, great work.

Haha I did in a few videos. Its a lot of work editing. I'll do I my best. I order oil locally liqui moly products. And the rest i use rockauto.com cheaper for me to ship parts and fluids from the us to Canada oddly lol. For the actual transfer case fluid I ordered it direct from vw seems to be specific.

5:23 “all the red seal”. Please elaborate
@MyHomeGarage3 жыл бұрын
The new plugs are pre coated with red thread sealant. I was just saying to get the plug as far in as to have the most amount of threads possible in contact with that sealant. If you were to reuse old drain plug. I would clean it off then apply new high temp thread sealant.
@Cparker8 Жыл бұрын
Im doing this soon.. Is it really necessary to replace the drain bolt or can i reuse them?

Reuse.

@MyHomeGarage thanks, do I need to put some type of silicone or anything on the thread?

Great video! Do you recommend to make the three fluid services at the same interval? (1-transfer case; 2-front differential; 3-rear differential) I own a Touareg 2012 4.2 V8 petrol. Thanks!!

Its up to you. When i bought my tousreg I didn't have a service history. So I made the decision to change all the fluids.

Nasci em Portugal. Comprei a matrícula como recordação quando visitei há 20 anos. Foi para o meu 91 Honda CRX SIR que já tive. Daí o 91 1.6 SI.

Why not include fluid type used? My manual is missing and VW dealer too far away. I know I can goodle it, but you know... lazy... lol

Yeah it is a little complicated to figure out. I used Vw fluid but there are alternatives but I was not 100% on them . www.blauparts.com/blog/how-to-change-vw-touareg-transfer-case-fluid.html or products.liqui-moly.us/dual-clutch-gear-oil-8100-5.html... You will probably only change this fluid once in the life of your ownership so I made the call to use Vw fluid. Sorry I wasn't clear in the video I was jus starting out making videos and editing. Goodluck.
