This is exactly what happened to my Touran, simply replaced the Lock Mechanism and it’s working perfectly again. Just make sure you have the larger hex bit for the two retaining bolts.

@@rolandkettle hey heyyy! Thank you for your comment :D I’m really sorry, but I have forgotten the size of the top of my head. I had to barrow one as it’s fairly large

I now know the answer - it’s an M8 spline bolt. Don’t try bodging it with a normal hex bit like I did the first time, you’ll burr it! Thanks again, the video was so useful for fixing it.
