VW Transporter (charging problem) LIN bus fault.

had an intermittent problem with the battery charging on our T6 and I'm 99% sure this is the issue. Going to scope this week, although, there has been continuity when running a multimeter. Wish me luck, and many thanks for this!

I didn't make it clear that it was two ends of the same wire. I'm back at this van this weekend to fit an egr and other parts. Cheers Matt 👍

Do u possibly have or do audi rsq3 Lin charging daigram , really struggling after replacing alti/ checked plug/ changed voltage stablizer , still not charging and no battery light shown on dash ( looked a can module I assume it’s pin 12 for Lin bus signal

Hi Matt Love your videos. Im working on one of these at work. ( been to another garage. ) I have checked continuity on the lin bus wire which is ok. I don’t even get a voltage increase when blipping the throttle. The other garage have supposedly replaced the alternator but made no difference. So refited the old alternator. My concern is they didnt fit a smart alternator. Any thoughts? Cheers

I have had one look like it's not charging until I switched on loads like the lights and blower motor, then it started to charge, when I switched the loads off again it stopped charging. It seemed happy working like that. Cheers Matt

I have a similar problem, reading a communication error and no stop/start. Would a parasistic drain also be a symptom?

Not always a symptom, usually a weak battery or faulty alternator will stop the stop start

Have same problem mate. I managed squize in and get plugnout. It is very tight, tried continuity test between Lin wire on battery (yellow wire) and single wire on alteretor smart charger. And not continuity. Any tips how to get there to repair it? Very tight and Aircon compressor on the way

Try a back probe or piercing probe on the lin wire at the alternator end and the same at the battery end, use a jumper wire and see if it's going to work. If it does you need to find the break in the wire or fit a new wire. Cheers Matt

where is wire for the alternator connects to? can seems to see it, I have same problem with charging, only goes up when rev a bit, also Start-stop does not work, gives error, and Engine ecu say unable to connect to BCM U014000, everything points to that wire, can't find alternator cable

Jump the alternator communication small wire to the communication wire at the battery negative post. Everything may work properly. The break in the wire may not be far from the alternator like this one
