Bought a T5 shuttle last year just about to stop out all the inners and start this process. Cheers for the great basic workflow. It’s confirmed a few bits for me 🤙

Really like this video series, keep up the good work! When i sound deadened my Ducato i spent quite a while lining up the deadening panels so they were all in line and equally centred in the panels. Absolutely pointless because they will eventually be covered, I wish i could have just whacked them on like you, would have saved so much time!

No point for something that even I won’t see again!

Thanks for sharing these videos, great to learn from! 🙏 This might be a silly question, but is it necessary to put both the sound deadening and insulation in? It looks as if the insulation by itself would also sufficiently deaden the vibration of any metal.
@jamespenny94 Жыл бұрын
The sound deadening removes the high frequency vibrations that come from the panels. The foam in the insulation wouldn’t do as good a job on that.

@@jamespenny94 Thanks for the quick reply. Didn't think of it that way, sounds plausible indeed! Going to buy some sound deadening 😜

This van looks like new was it commercial never seen such a clean van you bought well what was it used for

It’s a 20 plate van with low mileage and in great condition naturally.

Hi James, I'm just starting my journey on a T5.1, really helpful video, thank you. Where did you get the sound deadening and insulation from?
@jamespenny94 Жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, I ordered it from Harrison Trim supplies. If you’re not having a pop top or at least just a normal floor they do a kit with everything you’ll need insulation wise.
@ozzyg82 Жыл бұрын
cool. how come you don’t put thermal insulation on the inner metal ‘ribs’ of the van?
@jamespenny94 Жыл бұрын
DO you mean on the floor? The factory load mat is being used as the insulation.

@@jamespenny94 I was thinking more like the inner bars, Sorta, like those ones that go across the ceiling if that makes sense?
@jamespenny94 Жыл бұрын
Because I have an elevating roof fitted there is no room to put insulation up there. Otherwise you would do just that.

hey James have you found any solutions for sliding door storage all the pre made options don't have space for the little white thingy on the door, Im scratching my head with it here how to get around it
@jamespenny94 Жыл бұрын
By white thingy do you mean the manual release catch?
@aishlingmullerify Жыл бұрын
@@jamespenny94 I have no idea what it is, but its the circular plastic white yolk on the top left side of sliding door. whats does a manual release catch do🤣 Im not very wise to all the parts.

It’s glow on the dark too! Yeah there’s a small cable attached to it. If you pull it it opens the sliding door. It’s the van equivalent of an interior boot latch to let yourself out. If you take the bulkhead out then there’s no need for it because you can get to the doors. Unfortunately I came to that realisation after I carpeted and cut the hole. As for storage, it just means that as long as you can get to the cab you don’t need it so any door store will be fine.

@@jamespenny94 glow in the dark... fancy ! its great to know what it is though. How did you remove it and tidy it up? Ive a 6.1 also beginning from scratch but much slower and much less knowledge than you have, so thanks for sharing these videos they will really help me out.

I haven’t yet but my thoughts would be to just tape it to the inside of the panel. It’s not going to open as you have to pull it quite hard to get it to pop. Great to hear, my advice would be to take it easy and plan as much as you can in advance. And don’t film it as you go, it’s takes even longer 🤣
