VW Type 4 Engine Rebuild 1976 Porsche 912e 2.0 Type 4 Porsche 914, closing up the case sealing the case up. This is the 5th video of tearing down my 1976 Porsche 912E VW Type 4 Engine for a rebuild after piston #4 melted from overheating. This series of videos will be RAW and mostly unedited of the entire tear down and rebuild. These will be very long videos on the process of rebuilding a VW Type 4 air cooled engine. This same engine is also found in the 1970-1976 Porsche 914 in 1.7 and 1.8 displacements using fuel injection.

Hey, do they control the timing in this with oil pressure like they do in the more modern 2.0's?

No timing is all controlled by how the crank, cam, and distributor fit together.,

Do I need the windich tray??

I think only the Porsche Type 4's came with the windich trays, you should be good without it.

No lifters in case

Unlike the 912 or type 1 engines - these lifters can go on from the outside

What about your end play shims ?

the shims didn't change, and those go on after the case is buttoned up.

To bad you didn't modify the case to avoid oil leaks by the rear main seal,like Jake Raby showed on one of his videos a few days ago.
