@@Rippthrough That reminds me of the DAF TurboTwin 95 X1 Truck of Jan de Rooy for the Paris-Dakar rally in 1988. Which was a twin engined turbo charged beast, each engine driving an axle and each having 1 turbocharger plus a 3rd turbo charges the other two turbos. This resulted in the truck making 1220HP and 4700Nm of torque. What was it good for? Well he finished 11th overal between the cars and motorbikes in the Dakar Rally in 1988, and had a famous moment where he actually raced THE Ari Vatanen in his Peugeot 405 rally car and won. 😎👍 Yes, there is epic footage of that on youtube if you search Jan de Rooy and Ari Vatanen. 😉

When traction control kicks in quickly release the throttle and plant the throttle again and it will reset and pull through. Thats what i do in my up when on track

The engine bay looks pretty crowded. Easiest power boost might be to upsize the injectors, and install a nitrous system. You would have to keep the bottles topped off, but the ecm generally handles moderate nitrous injection if you give it injectors which are upsized enough to keep up with the extra oxidant.

We bought one in 2013 and it still runs faster than we think. Not unusual to be pelting down the HWY thinking we are doing 100 but really 130! A couple of months ago we got a second one for $250! Front end caught a roo and it stood still for four years in a repair shop yard. We now have lots of spare stuff! It would be great to get it on the road again, but the cost of parts is horrendous. Anyway, I put a battery pack on it and it started! I drove it around our roundabout (in our yard) and I am well pleased. It might end up as a paddock basher or just as spare stuff. The interior is great, electrics good and wheels all good. Not as good as yours though. Thank you for highlighting this little known vehicle. They are reliable and very economical. Lots of room and comfortable. Kind regards to you all.

I would love to see you guys do something like this in the B16 Mini. Also, warning about the aus delivered UP!'s, the gearboxes are made of the same glass as a subaru 5 speed, no point putting power into them, if you plan on modding that engine look at importing a turbo longblock and gearbox from europe and swapping it in, no point in even trying to build the aus delivered box as it will cost you as much as the full import and swap. This will also open you guys up to a hell of a lot of bolt on aftermarket parts from both the UP! GTi and the Polo GTi. You can put a lot of money into building an up in Aus, but it will be worth it, because at the end of the day it will be the closest thing to the spiritual feeling of a modern 60s mini cooper.

Have to pull the fuse, to turn off traction control. You can only disable automatic emergency brake in the cabine. The brake that automatically brakes up to 30kph.

Yep, he didn't turn off TC. And I'm pretty sure it's up to 32 km/h. Although, most sources say 30 km/h, so I'm not sure now.

@@jimmyb4982 He did, using the button in the interior. It turns off TC only partly, like all VAG cars from around the age/chassis of the mk6 golf up. You can still turn it off completely by pulling a fuse, though that turns off ABS too.

A suggestion to pass on to the track managers. Use the colored barriers to signal turns on the course. Red-Right, Blue-Left, White-Straight. Orange-Chicane. That makes it lots easier to navigate. Smiles per mile, is my Hijet.

You should get a software tune for the UP!, because the 1.0 MPI 60 HP is restricted by software. The 1.0MPI originally comes with 75 HP. I would love to see u guys get the full "performance" out off it.

The up reminds me of the getz i had as my first car, small, white, and slower than a stoned slug but it was such a fun car. Theres nothing like driving at 10 tenths and still being within the law. Honestly tempted to get another if I have the space in the future

I've enjoyed driving a Getz, whilst no performance vehicle, it handles surprisingly well for what it is(and you can get lift off oversteer). Kept up (more so caught up) in corners with an a**hole that tail gated me when I was stuck behind other cars (in an old AE86) in Royal National Park.

I have a VW up TSI.. it's the 1.0 turbo from the factory. Chiptuned to 130hp and 232nm... That's the engine you need... 😉

Need to keep the revs up (above 3.5 K). In other words, work the gearbox more if you wanna go faster, especially through the corners. But the TC would have been intrusive, given the wet conditions.

The UP! is genuinely my favourite daily car on a sensible level We have the GTI in the U.K which i love. Also love the GR Yaris to but it's expensive for the car. How you guy's don't get lost on that track i don't know.

If the engine (EA111, I think?) in this Up is the same on my VW Gol (the older and a little grown-up brother of Up, sold only in Brazil and South America), you should shift up in about 6200 rpm, catching the "plateau" of both torque and power. What I really like about these cars is that they are made to last, even if you beat them (easy work on "soft heavy-duty" daily drive in crappie roads of Brazil). This YT channel would not make any sense if they've bought an Up TSi because is a ready platform, and is relatively easy to extract power from the '3 cylinder powerhouse'. There are a lot of 'Brians O'Conner" in Brazil who actually think that they own a racecar, however, what they really drive is a true ice cream box with a turbo (especially when is the Speed version with modified ECU, performing 150ish hps) that makes Civic Si owners sweat, but the fight is good. Well-done mates!

You need the engine/setup from a 110/115 version, then you are one tune away from 140 and up hp. These engines can be found in all types of vag products from up to golf and t-roc.

Guys,I really sugest You to go for an Eibach springs kit for the Up! On my Seat Mii (same platform) it lowered 2'5cm front and 3 cm rear to make the car more stable at corners. No need to change the coilovers since the original ones can work decently and retains some "original style" to the driving. Forward will be good to go for a 1.0 TSI 90/115 Hp engine and try both gearboxes with 5 and 6 gears to take conclusions.

The UP! doesn't actually turn the traction control off, I noticed that taking a Citigo to a trackday, then a friend who had an UP! he took to the Nurburgring explained that to actually turn the traction control off, he had to disable the ABS, I can't remember how that was done, might be a fuse. Still! great video, and I'm a little envious you fit inside with a helmet on, I didn't, so I was on track with my head in the roof. :P
