The wildest thing to me is that the cars in the CGI have fewer polygons than those in the first Need for Speed Underground game! Like they could have literally lifted models off Sketchup or any other repository but no, let's render something that looks like it came from the Nintendo 64!

@Santiago Oehler Toca Uh, yes, the PS3 *does* do the CGI of those cars in the game. If it were a baked animation, then you wouldn't have any gameplay at all, because what's being displayed to the screen wouldn't be able to be interactive. This movie is just *that* bad.

Even in _your own comment_ you literally say "I know this is a generic plot...", so I 'm just going to suggest you take a minute to think about whether or not any of that answers your question of whether or not anyone else is seeing the similarities... come on man, I know you can do it.

Back around 2015 I met the Visual Effects lead at "The Asylum", the production company that works on, and distributes a lot of these "mockbuster" style movies. There was a small presentation at a local bar where he showed off his VFX reel, and he answered some questions about the company. Basically, when asked about why they focus so heavily on these really bizarre, and often terrible movies, his answer was that they provided an opportunity for new film makers to get a grip on how movies are actually made, and to help give people entering the industry of film making, and VFX work, a shot at an entry level position working on a movie that will actually be released to the public so they can get some experience. These movies are often shot very quickly, and very cheaply, but it gives people who have never worked on a full production the chance to do just that. At the time, he said they aim to release about 4 movies a year... that number may not be accurate anymore. This movie was made for just 200k, and made in about 1 year.

@@mrtfisher18 that's like 2 employees for 1 year, and not even fantastic employees (they'll have to bring their own car). If you have to buy/rent cameras, any dumb permits, rental cars (hey it's a rental!), and a film crew and editor and a handful of actors for some 12 packs, well that's pretty much all of it. My RX-8 burns through enough fuel and paired with inflation it feels like it better be movie quality, thankfully it's so much more fun than a movie, but even fuel is expensive and so are tires for burnouts and drifts. Speaking of which, I have to buy new tires tomorrow, seems I like to drift a LOT on roundabouts because my right side tires are toast (and it has limited slip differentials, but car tips slightly and weight applied to outside wheel), still worth it though.
